This exaggerating of accents thing can be really grating when said people move to another part of the country. I used to work with a geordie, fuck me his accent got broader the longer he lived away from Newcastle. It was sad really, his whole identity was that of being a geordie, rather than who he was and what he did. He used to talk about missing the place but no way was he ever going back there, then he would just be plain Mike rather than "geordie".

Its fucking weird

Actually, even weirder is people pretending they are from somewhere, such as Liverpool, when they clearly aren't. What is missing in their lives that they have to do this? They put on fake accents. Fucking hell.

Even weirder than that, people who type on here in scouse accents when their own accent is nowhere near scouse. I've read "arl fella" and "going the match" often written by someone from fucking 100's of miles away.

Quite amazing really. Oy anyone who isn’t from Liverpool! Here me now, don’t ever say your going the match or ever use arl fella as a saying. How dare you. You bloody Grockies

It's "grockle", you wool.

"Arl fella" objectively great phrasing though, don't see any issue with that. Like calling people "melts", it just works so why not.

I think someone is just trying hard to throw sly jabs and I guess after a week one caught a toenail or something.

This is the one, there's no stopping it. Whenever you step off a bus it sneaks out automatically.

Don't have babber or daps much here. It'd be "alright maid/bay".

I had some fucking weird looks from taxi drivers in Dubai when I said it.
