He said "don't you wish they'd get on with it" which yeah was tasteless but isn't taking the piss out of Ken Bigley himself but implying that this hostage stuff and threats are dragging on. It was also 18/19 years ago, aren't you on another thread taking the piss out of people being offended by things that happened years ago?

I don't remember it, the way you describe it, it sound like a really poor decision and bad taste, but maybe there was a wider context why he went there.

I know you weren't asking me but for me, no. What he said wasn't remotely funny and nothing humorous comes out of what happened to Ken Bigley whatsoever.

Went to see him years ago at the Empire, during his banana boot wearing thing. He was mildly amusing, played a guitar, sang and spoke about shitting his pants as a kid. The last time I watched him was on the telly and he seemed to laugh at his stories louder than the audience did. 

 

The Ken Bigley thing was ill judged, but worse was that it wasn't funny  - very much like Connolly. Now he's in the sad position of being a captive of Parkinson's disease and I just wonder if he thinks it should just 'get on with it'. That line's still not funny.

Yep, me too. As I've said, it was tasteless. I've forgiven a comedian for making a tasteless joke, you haven't. That's allowed. I'm sure there are plenty of jokes you find acceptable (again I'm not saying what Billy said was acceptable) that I wouldn't.
