Im suprised at Schalke but the rest are the usual suspects, I expect us to move up that list over the next few years as move ground and finally cash in on the far eastern market.

Look at the wages for 96/00....

I think that was when the last TV deal was signed. The new players signed were given massive wages based on the increased TV income that had not yet been realised in the turnover. The TV deal was largely responsible for the massive increase in turnover from 2000 onwards.

If I remenber right - Schalke were involved in some sort of Real Madrdi style deal - they bought land off the local council (Gelsenkirchen?) for a few quid when they were massively in debt and then miraculously it was worth a fortune.....not sure where their money comes from though they've been in the top 20 for a few years though

It shows just how big and popular we are that we are 11th even without exhausting all outlets of brining revenue in like the rest of them have.

You see kids in town in some of those shirts all the time even though they have no real feeling for the club, thats what we need to do in some places while opening up shops in places they are mad for us like the far east.

Just read a article on the guardian website about the fact that teams in Italy and Spain negoiate there own TV deals while we share so its clear why we arent right up there.

Also mentioned the prospect of a european superleague which I guess is G14's way of saying to Platini be careful with your proposed changes or we will take a ball home.

Guest Johnny Barnes

Is this based on how much a club earns per annum or its overall assets?

I thought with the recent takeover we would be worth a bit more than that.

Barca and Real both recently signed deals which guarantee them around £100m a season from TV. Juventus are by far the best supported team in Italy which guarantees them big TV and shirt sponsorship money.

Thi latest list is based on Forbes guess on how much the club is worth not just turnover - (Real, Barca and Juve's turnover are all higher than united)in Forbes terms United and Arsenals massive debt add to the value of the club - if you look at the full list you'll see most of Uniteds wealth is based on the ludicrous price Glazer paid and then pushed onto the club as debt (more than three times what Gillet and Hicks paid for us in relation to turnover - same for Lerner, Magnusson etc all paid roughly the same as us in terms of amount paid in relation to turnover)

The italian clubs are thinking of going back to collective TV rights - and TV for them is a huge 60% of their income they thinks its making their league non-competitive allegedly - whereas most Prem clubs its about 30%, 30% matchday receipts and 30% marketing/sponsorship etc

Not sure about Juve's popularity they are scaling down their stadium for 60,000 + to 50,000 I think with an original proposal for 30K..........football atendance in Italy isn't great possibly because of their recent troubles

Juventus have over 10 million fans in Italy, it's estimated that more than 1/4 of football fans in Italy support Juve. The problem is that the support isn't in Turin but all over the rest of Italy.

They may have 10 million fans in Italy Dave but only 35,000 turn up to watch them. They are the mancs of Italy without the match going fans.
