James : I think its both a matter of not beeing able to fill the stadium and the financial aspect of it. A 55 000 seater is supposedly gonna cost £70M while a 70 000 seater is supposedly gonna cost £120M. Thats a huge price difference that might have made it hard for Liverpool to compete on the transfer market

True - Theres at least 10 games a season where the dmand is huge at present .These games would easily sell a 60,000-70,000 stadium which means that if the average ticket for the Mancs game is £20 quid then the most to made from tickets sales at the mancs game is £900000, if that game had the 70 thou capacity it would add another £500000 each game .

 

The FAI in Ireland have done extensive research on stadia and they found that with a 70-80thou capacity ground ,it only needs to be filled 4 times to cover all costs ,which means that all other games are clearing straight to the club/assoc coffers .

 

As long as the mancs and Arsenal and clubs in Europe continue tro get larger gates then they are always going to have that extra spending power .
