My first instinct is ‘I hate Christmas’ I don’t though, it’s all the over hyped commercialism I hate. All the pressure on people to have that perfect Christmas.

I hate the shops being too busy and the thought of how much the stamps will cost to post all the cards!

Actual Christmas Day I enjoy and I often enjoy Boxing Day more as it’s less stressful. I work in an office where I only have the two days off though and my husband and son work in retail so time off work is not something we get much of.

Really pissed off I’ve got to work Christmas Eve but they only let a couple have the day off and I didn’t get ‘pulled out the hat’.

That being said we are going to my son and gfs flat for Christmas Day and our first grandchild so that will be lovely (although he’ll only be 8 weeks old)

Then Boxing Day I’m going to my sister’s with my parents. My son has to work Boxing day which I’m sad about for him.

So I shall enjoy the two days but Christmas jumpers and elf on the shelf etc can sod off!!

I think it’s ridiculous that the sales start on Boxing Day. Ought to be the 1st of January, like it was years ago.

Congrats on the Grandchild. It's something I'm looking forward to myself after the hassle of a big wedding next March.

Really looking forward to it this year. First proper Christmas with my girlfriend, me and the kids are buying all our sweets and chocolates this Saturday and I get two whole weeks off work.

Oh, and my daughter (with a big smile on her face) has just told me that my ex-wife has split up with her child of a boyfriend. For shame.

I’ve found over the years like the best nights out Christmas is better with less planning. Go with the flow and enjoy it, you don’t need to plan it like a military excercise.

07.00 Awaken from slumber, shower and clean teeth.

07.30 Open presents

08.00 Cook special Christmas breakfast

Blah blah blah etc etc.......

We finish on Friday 21st and are off all the way through to the 2nd Jan this year, although I’m solely on call to the police station and for any overnighters in court during that period.

Brave words, Anubis

If I ended up getting called out for the usual low-level shoplifting or domestic violence shite that you get over Christmas it’d be crap. A nice Christmas murder wouldn’t go amiss though. Something interesting. Or a serial killer. A serial killer would be something interesting and out of the ordinary, and a box ticked on the defence lawyer wish list.....

Everyone I know says it’s amazing

It certainly is and seeing my son being so loving and gentle with him is lovely. Also seeing the love in my parents eyes when they seen him is special too. My parents are 81 and 79 so all round special memories.

Most of my far-flung family get together at Christmas, and since we all get along, it's always a great time.

It was my father's favourite holiday, and when he passed away we distributed all his various tasks amongst ourselves. So old traditions are new traditions, and the holiday is even more important than it was before.

I don't love the Christmas that happens 'out there'...hoardings advertising Christmas nights out in July, the cards and decorations that appear in shops in August, street decorations and that overpriced shitty Christmas market going up in November and all the pressure to have that 'perfect Christmas' whatever that might be and for many years I used to dread its arrival but in recent years I seem to have made my peace with it and actually there is loads about what we do at Christmas that I like/look forward to/love...making lists, Christmas baking, even some of shopping, great food, mulled wine, SPOTY which kind of signifies the start of Christmas at ours, watching films with family, knowing that the shops have all shut come tea time on Christmas Eve and all the little family rituals that go along with it. Yeah, it's all right

Preferred Xmas eve to the day.

If I had family/kids I would be all over it. But for me once the kids don't believe anymore it's all over.

Not having a close extended family means it does nothing for me anymore. I'd rather work and let others have time off and grabbing the extra money.
