Have you read Stalingrad by Antony Beevor?

Yep that's superb too. His book on the Spanish Civil War is good reading too but it's more meaty than the two WWII books. It has a lot to do with Spanish politics which is alright but after a while you tend to blank some names out because you can't absorb any more.

Immediate Action by Andy McNab

A sergant advised me to read it and I can't put it down because it's a book that I can relate to, it can be quite funny at times too, well, maybe only for squaddies.

Iv liked all his books including the 2 fiction series he writes. I think they are very easy reads you can just sit back and relex without having to have your brain work overtime. He goes into a lot of detail in parts about shiting in clingfilm ect.

Im currently reading a Ian rankin "rebus" one at the mo.

The Dice Man is my favourite book. I have had a couple on the go. Just finished How to be Good by Nick Hornby and am also reading A Trip Round Ireland - With a Fridge.

Tony Hawks is a fab writer - very understated, very 'nice' - when that word meant something good. Try his tennis one, and the one about him buying a house in France. Both excellent. I think Nick Hornby is a bit of a one trick pony and very 1990, and I found that book a bit depressing, largely because the quality of the writing and dialogue. I'll never read another of his.

I don't know the Dice Man - who's it by?

Just finished my latest top up of cynical geopolitics - Chomsky's Hegemony or Survival. Have got two others on the go - Will Self - the book of Dave, and Beyond Black by Hilary Mantel. I think Will Self is a underrated writer. Try Ali Smith - the Accidental - I enjoyed this recently.
