Saddest Song Ever

Recommended Posts

'Hurt' by Johnny Cash. Might not have been his own song but his voice carries an emotional wallop. You can hear the sadness and remorse.

Time to say goodbye

Yesterday

Enola Gay (it’s a rogue one but it is a sad song in my opinion and it’s an absolute masterpiece)

Try Enola Gay by Utah Phillips. A different song and heartbreakingly powerful.

As for Time to Say Goodbye - Did you ever see Inside Number 9; The Twelve Days of Christine? Fucking Hell. That'll have you bawling like a baby.

Saw a thread about this on a music forum & had a look to see if there had been one on here.

Birds - Neil Young

Caroline No - The Beach Boys

Just One Last Look - The Temptations

It's usually the music & the melody I find sad as I'm not arsed about lyrics.

I remember the first time I heard Diamonds and Rust by Joan Baez. The intro had me choked up before she even started singing.

Wish you were here - Pink Floyd - So emotive and impossible not to associate with the death of loved ones

Eleanor Rigby - Beatles - Sad in a different way to most songs

Here you go.  (He's a rambler, so he doesn't start singing until about 3:20)

Here it is.  All her longing for "the unwashed phenomenon, the original vagabond".
