Rothman's states "all competitive games" but has the run ending on 31-1-87, one week before the figures you've quoted.

 

Been trying to find the all competitive games record for ages but there doesn't appear to be anywhere definitive with it. Rothmans refers to Chris Woods 1196 as a British record for all competitive games.

 

For instance from the league list above (compiled by the IFFHS):

 

Petr Cech AC Sparta Praha Ceská Republika 20.08.2001-17.11.2001 903

 

His overall record is longer and runs to 1120 minutes in all games for Sparta.
