I can't say I'm happy about it, but it's old news, it happened in 2004. The officer was acquitted too, which caused a bit of a stir.

Incidentally, Captain R was an Israeli Arab.

In what realm of fantasy is that even relevant

Hamas can't even peacefully co-exist with Fatah, it's complete fantasy to suppose they can co-exist with Jews.

Yeah.  That's the stumbling block.  After all those decades of successive Israeli governments reaching out to peacefully coexist with Palestinians...

Here's a spoiler for the next chapter: misanthropic nihilism provides even fewer answers, but takes you to darker places.

I'd recommend you skip that chapter.

Fascism is inevitable. Might as well learn about it now. Hope I'm wrong. Always easier to target moral scapegoats than confront the systemic problems.

Fascism is anything but inevitable.  It has been stopped before and it will be stopped again.

And stopping Fascism is anything but "moral scapegoating ". Fascism is a fundamental part of the systemic problems: the Tony Blairs and Boris Johnsons of this world depend on a vanguard of Nick Griffins and Steven Yaxley-Lennons to do their dirty work. There's no need to pick and choose who to oppose: just keep swinging for justice and humanity.

The backlash is everywhere all around the world. Economic hardship plus the privileged left taking the piss by demonising straight white men at every turn. Birthrates dropping like a stone in developed countries and immigration from developing countries to make up the shortage. You know you're in trouble when race science and IQ science is back in the news big time. We don't even dream of utopias anymore. Technology now means job losses, greater CEO bonuses and gene-editing/eugenics of 'undesirables'.

So, fight back. Be human and fight back.

And whatever you do, don't buy into any of that "white straight men are victims" bullshit.  It's the stupidest of lies, the self-evident polar opposite of the observable truth.

The senate voted in favour of allowing this the other day, it still has to be voted on in the house though :

The U.S. Senate passed a Mideast policy bill on Tuesday including a measure that would allow states to penalize businesses that take part in boycotts of Israel and an amendment that breaks with President Donald Trump by opposing any plans for an abrupt withdrawal of troops from Syria.

The Senate backed the Strengthening America’s Security in the Middle East Act by a lopsided 77-23 on Tuesday, hours before Trump was to deliver his annual State of the Union speech discussing his policies for the year.
