Hi!

I wanna make a cd compilation of Liverpool bands/artists. Since I'm a norwegian guy I don't have too much knowledge on Liverpool artists. So i wonder if anyone out there (liverpudlians?) could help me add some good artists to my list. This is my list so far:

The Christians

Space

Cast

The La's

Frankie Goes Hollywood

The Beatles

Gerry & the Pacemakers

The Lightning Seeds

Echo & The Bunnymen

The Farm

The Boo Radley's

The Icicle Works

Julian Cope

The Mighty Wah!

Half Man Half Biscuit

Teardrop Explodes

The Coral

The Basement

The Zutons

The Open

It’s Immaterial

The Bandits, Michael Head The Magical World Of The Strands. Also Michael Head is part of Shack which are one of best bands on the planet, in my opinion. They used to be called The Pale Fountains which are still very good

Do you remember a band called The Three Johns? Didn't they come from Liverpool?

Thanx to joeyb and SKEET.

PS: SKEET: Where is Wirral?

It was me who wrote that answer when I was at Skeet's house. Wirral is on the opoosite bank of the River Mersey to Liverpool.

The wirral is the 60's over spill from Liverpool. Commonly known as plastic scousers (moi included there). Some scousers hold it over em like cockneys hold the bow bells over londoners (you not a cockney if you wernt born there, bow bells that is)

Goes sort of like this.

Girl: "So where you from then"

Me "The Wirral"

Girl: "Where the fucks that"

Me: " Sort of in between Liverpool and ....

Baz: "HE'S A FUCKIN PLASTIC SCOUSER NOT A REAL ONE"

Girl" Who's that"

ME: "Thats me mate baz from toxteth, he a REAL scouser"

girl: "Whats a..."

you get my drift and then until last orders it goes on and on and on and on

Yep the coral are from the wirral but still a good band and worthy of your list, but i promise you download shack

China Crisis, The Real People and Rain were big favourites of mine, and I love the Lotus Eaters one hit wonder The First Picture. I also completely agree with the lads singing the praises of Shack, a superb Liverpool band.

I must say though that my current favourites are Ian McNabb and Icicle Works, introduced to me by Annie Nightingale on Sunday evening Radio 1 when I was a teenager and the Reds were the greatest team in Europe.

Apollo 440

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark

I guess if we're being completists, Cilla Black, Ken Dodd, Atomic Kitten and Mel C ought to really go on the list too. And Alexei Sayle's released a couple of singles too ;)

Didn't know OMD were Liverpudlians. They came to Ottawa, Canada when I lived there and I rode in the elevator with them. They were doing a radio interview and I was picking up a record I won.

When I was over I on the 19 bus (or was it the no 5?) and went by a car dealership I was thinking aboot Sayle and ' hey John, bought a new motor...' and 'didn't you kill my brother'.

Then I started thnking about other things.

get on 'The Dead 60's'. They'll blow your mind.

I've seen them. I thought they had a couple of decent songs but they sounded a tad repetitious. I will admit that they were a supporting act and their equipment was muffled to shite.

Fucking spooky that, I was thinking about my reply and was gonna say the exact same thing!

My brother loves them - he was in a club the other week and walked over to the dj box and requested one of their tunes. The DJ turned out to be The Dead 60's drummer! They had a good bit of banter about that.
