Yeah but unless you can be arsed finding a proxy that works I wouldn't do it as he works for a newspaper and their techies will be able to trace it back. It's against the computer misuse act and you would probably end up a) getting prosecuted and b) being the subject of another article explaining what scum we are so I'd rather not provide another journo any ammo.
