So now we know what we need. One point will be enough to clinch a record twentieth league title after Arsenal's draw with Palace meant that they can only match our current points total if they win all their remaining 4 games. One of those games is against us so that's not happening. Not only that, but we have 5 games left in which to gather that point, so the "dullest championship race in years" (so says every piss-boiling bantz merchant in the country and across social media. What about all those processions featuring either United or especially City, or Mourinho's shit-on-a-stick Chelsea teams?) could be an annihilation of the opposition by a team loads are saying aren't actually any good. The game is live on Sky obviously.

Spurs' season has been Spursy even by Spurs standards. This was a side that were league champions back in September 2023 remember? Postecoglou's tactic of a very high defensive line combined with no pressing in the middle has completely overworked their defence to the extent where hatchet man Romero and pace merchant Van de Ven have had to miss games due to injury. Tottenham have in all fairness had a large injury list this season but it does look like their methodology for preparation and recovery may be a little bit flawed. They are still generally good going forward and their approach can make for some highly entertaining games for the neutral. New signing Solanke has done well for them but his support cast of Son, Johnson and Richarlison have been inconsistent to varying degrees. Kulusevski is a very good player though. Every time I watch him, he's not especially pacy, technically brilliant or rock solid with his decision-making but he makes things happen when he's on the ball. There's enough pace, skill, ability to set up or take chances there which makes him very effective. He's like Harvey but with more physical stature. And less Super Noodle hair. Tottenham are currently languishing in 16th, well clear of the drop zone but in that abyss of mediocrity below mid-table alongside West Ham, Wolves, Everton and the Mancs. Their only remaining hope of silverware is the Europa League, where they are up against the mighty Noggies of Bodo/Glimt in the semi finals. Win that trophy and not only is it a trophy (they've been as allergic to trophies as other big clubs like Everton and Villa, and until recently Newcastle) but it would prove 'Big Ange' right in that he always wins something in his second year. Whether they do that or not, I expect him to go off on a mad rant like Conte did a few years ago. To try to give themselves a boost, they were active in the January transfer window, bringing in Czech goalkeeper Kinsky from Slavia Prague for £13m, plus loaning in Austrian defender Danso and French forward Tel from Lens and Bayern respectively. On the injury front, I don't think Maddison is under concussion protocols after being Schumacher'd by the Eintracht Frankfurt keeper last week so he should be available. They are without defender Dragusin after his ACL surgery, and apparently are assessing Son's fitness.

It's all about what we do though. We will likely have the same squad available as last week, with the only question for Slot being whether to start Trent or Conor at right back. The team has largely picked itself so expect Fede to be cheerleading from the dugout, and Harvey and Darwin itching for minutes. This is the kind of opponent Harvey excels against because the games have a certain tempo and Spurs do leave space. Lucho has been lively in recent weeks, and Mo was much better over the last couple of games. He could do with some goals from open play though as it feels like ages since he got one. Diogo, despite his derby winner, has looks out-of-sorts of late. Cody hasn't really got going since his recent injury absence, and Darwin is neither trusted by the boss nor does he look like he's arsed any more. He looks every bit a player who wants out. Regardless, I'm hoping our attacking play finally picks up properly after weeks of looking below title-winning standard, and that we create and take chances. We need a point, but go and get 3. Let's hammer home our superiority and get Big Ange to mouth off at the travelling hordes once again.

How have our previous managers fared in their first home against Spurs? It's not a bad record on the whole, with the only aberration being the game under Kenny which came right after he agreed a deal to become manager permanently. The team had picked up massively after he'd taken over as caretaker from Hodgson, and the fans were happy as we'd just thrashed Fulham at their place earlier that week. Unfortunately that all tailed off in the Spurs game and then we limped to a defeat at Villa in our final game of the season, again without scoring. That lack of goalscoring prowess was to become a feature of the following season as we found more wood than a slapper at a gangbang. In the last 2 seasons, this fixture has been a goalfest, with both league games following a pattern of us taking a commanding early lead and then switching off, allowing Spurs a sniff.

I was at those Souness & Klopp games, I would've been 14 & 37. Bizarrely the Souness one was far more enjoyable but ultimately saved his job, which was not a good thing.

Regarding Sunday, I hope the team are a bit more sensible than some of the supporters, who seem to have started celebrating already & go into this with the right attitude. As always, an early goal would be nice. Hopefully everyone who is going on Sunday has an absolutely amazing day & can generate as much noise & colour as possible.

Also, winning it with Richarlison on the pitch would be fucking superb considering the gif of Thierry Henry holding back a smirk that he posted on Twitter when we were pipped last time.

Tottenham's record at Anfield is execrable and this year's Spurs are wretched.  I was talking to a Spurs fan today and she reckons the whole ground will be bouncing at the thought of Arsenal's dreams being ground into the dirt.  She asked only two things: "don't injure anyone and don't humiliate us". With one eye on Europe, none of their players are going to want to risk an injury, so I can't offer any promises of non-humiliation.

This could be fun.

Just get these beat, Reds.

Just watched Slot’s presser, not a lot to take away from it really.

I think it’ll be the same line up as Leicester. We’ve scored 10 goals in 2 games against them with Salah - Diaz - Gakpo starting against them this season, we could have had about 20 (Jota started the league cup game).

Let’s make Sunday one of the best days of our life’s.

Just fucking win.
