Can anyone help me with this.

I understand the council are in shit with a massive hole in the budget, but I’ve read that some refuse collectors and the union are saying they are going to be £8,000 a year worse off. Is this a direct pay-cut, or is that number built into some kind of forecasted earnings model?

Wherever I read up on it, they don’t have a straight appraisal of the situation

UNISON have effectively bankrupted the council with the pay awards that were negotiated, and subsequent back pay for unfair treatment in their former dealing.

As budgets have been so wafer thin for years this is the snake eating itself.

Tory cause, Labour fallout.

Steady now!

The council and the Government are at fault here: the Tories for cutting council funding by 78.9% between 2010 and 2020; the council for responding to that by illegally underpaying its women workers.

The workers and their unions didn't bankrupt the council.

The amount these Chief Execs pay themselves (for doing fuck knows what) is obscene.

The amount they pay agencies and contracting companies is also off the charts.

I currently have my normal bin ful, garden waste full, recycling full and i am about to start putting the bags on the street. Our road isnt too bad, as i think most drive and have been getting rid of the rubbish. Thankfully the weather has gone shit again too, as the smell of bins in the air was getting quite noticeable.

It's the same in Knowsley and Liverpool councils. They have people at the top earning a fortune and then make cuts to absolutely everything.

They also waste thousands every year in litigation costs for not doing even the most basic everyday  things they are supposed to and get taken to court. Plus loads of people are always on long term sick leave because the environment they have to work in is completely chaotic and not organised by the people at the top being paid a fortune.

If the brummies had any work ethic they'd buy a couple of old wagons and make some dosh out of the situation, Ghostbusters style - Bobby Brown music blaring out the window.

It’s the binmen getting a pay rise previously which caused all of their problems (indirectly) so I can understand why they’re being so careful.
Just as an aside, I arranged a project for the council that got them about £4 million quid extra in government grants so I should probably have a statue outside the town hall or something.

Also - it turns out that their financial position might not be as dire as first suspected. A lot of it was down to pension projections which seem to have been miscalculated. Heads will roll if that’s the case as services and jobs have already been lost.
