I agree, I hate this playing the ball around in our half for the sake of it stuff, it reminds me of Rodgers, I detested Rodgers.

Keep the ball to try and create space behind, but dont do it so close to your own goal that it creates a goalscoring opportunity to the opposition if you lose it, and we do lose it way too much in those situations.

Play his fucking dad, who’s arsed. It’s Everton, we will sausage them up the hoop.

I hate it when people say this as it always ends up a game where I age quicker than the Cocoon cast in reverse. Yes you AoT.

Absolutely right. If anyone criticises how it's done, they get a lecture on the tactical rationale behind it, as if one had no idea. The problem isn't with the idea but its execution. Tactics don't exist in a bubble, they're studied by opponents and new ways of combating them are constantly being adapted, so this kind of style needs regular rethinks - and it doesn't appear to get them. It's painfully predictable, and opponents are now extremely good at anticipating and pressing the movement.

The tactic was first trumpeted as far more rational than the keeper just booting the ball towards the centre circle, but now far too many of such sequences are ending with the keeper trying to avoid being dispossessed by booting the ball towards the centre circle. So in that sense there's been no progress, merely a minute or two wasted by passing around at the back.

Any tactic needs judging in terms of its effectiveness, not how good it seems in theory. Way more work is needed to salvage what's fast-becoming a cliche.

We need to go out and put them under serious pressure from the off. None of this slow, ponderous stuff that allows them to get a foothold in the game.

This has been the FF pre-match mantra for every one of the 21 league games we've won... and yet, here we are.

The main thing is that the fans in the ground don't shit the bed in the first 20 minutes when we're not 8-0 up.

Haven't even been able to think about the game. It's been completely insignificant to me.

The general view on the forum seems to be that we're shit. Has been for a while. Puzzling.

We aren't shit. League table says we aren't shit but we have been shit for the last few games.

Life is about balance. There needs to be a counter weight to hubris and arrogance as their does to pant shitting and feebleness. I am not that balance I still think we will find a way to fuck it up and age our fanbase quicker than crystal meth. I need to read the occasional hit to bring me back to the light.

I reckon it'll be one of those games where you'll be able to see in the first half hour or so where we are after our little bit of a rest.

We need to start fast and get at them from the first whistle. If we don't, there's a risk that they could nick a goal, shut up shop and heads drop a bit.

We can't afford to play at a tempo which could help that happen.

Which is why I'd consider starting Nunez tonight. He's a bit shite like, but he'd probably offer us a bit more or a presence and fit in to the whole vibe and atmosphere of the game more than Jota would, with the latter looking a bit ponderous and ineffective in our past couple of games.

"I would be lying if I said I look forward to going there all the time because it is such a hard place to get results. It is nothing to do with the surroundings or the pitch, they have always produced good teams."

Moyes of course. You can see him panic after the first sentence, quick make sure you don’t in anyway infer it’s the fans or the atmosphere.

This is all they’ve got left this season. He will be in full shithouse mode, they will do anything not to lose tonight. I’d be surprised if they have a shot on target.

Would like to see a bit of Chiesa tonight.

He deserves a crack after being the only member of the squad who looked remotely interested in winning that Cup final.

There is no excuse not to be on it tonight. Home crowd under the lights against those cloggers.

We need to be much quicker with & without the ball. Hardly much of an ask.

It'll be fucking infuriating if we start in a passive & weak manner again & please none of that brain dead punting straight balls up to Diaz/Jota.

Dreading this as I have no idea what version of us turns up. Could really do with a statement win but as of now I couldn’t even say who I’d play up front as non of them are firing and Chiesa has not played in one of these before. Maybe Jota in one of his wind up moods but who knows.

Slot said in his press conference that Chiesa is basically competing with Salah for a spot in the team so we ain't seeing him start.

Him and Endo both deserve a chance but doubt we'll see them until late in the game.

On form he should start over Salah

Nunez Gakpo Chiesa

There’s the title.
