Hahahaha, I mean, even if you’re thinking it (who the hell is) other than chrisbonnie) you shouldn’t say it.

I'd like to say "game recognises game"

But id be insulting Stu by saying that.......

Coming to think of it, Can Usher help myself and his daughters friend connect, the young lad that thinks Stu is the funniest guy on the pod?

perhaps the two of us could start our own little fan club for him......

“Unable” is doing an awful lot of lifting in that post. It was clearly a strategic choice; one that he must have been aware was a possibility given the fact that he has no responsibility for recruitment and - more pertinently - one that has been insignificant as far as the league title goes.

Mate, I couldn’t give a fuck about some billionaire Americans. What I care about is: 1.  avoiding near bankruptcy again; 2. competing with cheats with our heads held high; 3. developing young players to become world class Liverpool legends; 4. strategic thinking over inane fan-pressure driven financial recklessness; and 5. not looking like complete fucking bell ends by crying it in about spending when we are winning anyway.

I haven’t heard one even vaguely sensible argument from the FSG out quarter wits. All I ever read from them is utterly mindless drivel about spending without reference to the rules, the record books or logic.

Do these people even understand the concept of a balance sheet? How the fuck do they manage their own lives when they think it’s possible to just spend, spend, spend? Don’t they look at the likes of Manchester United and recognise the arrant folly of a scatter gun spending approach? Are they unaware that we are the second highest payers in England and that if we divert some of that money to transfer fees we simply cannot retain the world class players that we’ve developed?

In the absence of a benign local billionaire dictator called Paul Natton taking over the club, these will do for me on the evidence of the last decade and a half.

And as for the idea that I’ve never criticised them, we always comment on ticket prices when it’s an issue and I think I was the only person on the pod to be vocally critical of Mike Gordon disappearing for all those months when trying to drum up interest in a sale. That was the period when, if you recall, there was no one in place to be decisive about the contract issues we are now contending with.

I am happy to criticise individual or collective fuck ups, but why the hell would I disagree with an overall strategy for the club which I was advocating back during the dark days of Gillett and Hicks?

I always called for us to live within our means and continually said that we could expand Anfield even further than we currently have done while continuing to sell it out. I also constantly predicted the increase in television money from which we would benefit over the years, while most talked about a bursting bubble.

If it wasn’t for the presence of brazen cheats, this strategy would have us well into the 20s in terms of league titles by now and almost certainly we’d have a couple more European cups as our money would go further without cheats artificially inflating the market and stockpiling the best players.

Hmmmm.

@Paul - It’s one of those where we need 2 seconds or 2 years to change the other one’s opinion; anything in-between will not help.

That doesn’t mean I don’t see where you’re coming from, I just massively and irretrievably disagree.
