Leaving aside the highly judgemental line about parental absence, this isn’t a competition for what’s the shittest thing in society! Obviously you have a different perspective to mine, but at the very least I hope you’d concede I have a better informed perspective on it than many, given it’s what I’ve done for most of my working life?

How are you even turning this into an argument, Paul? Concede that you have a better informed perspective? The fact that you have a better informed perspective is exactly the point I am making. Not everyone benefits from your perspective though.

I'm also not claiming that this is all down to a pack of quality parenting, but if someone has had their face stuck in a device since the age of 8, why would those same parents now suddenly have an epiphany on the potential harms?

I would imagine it would be quite difficult to prevent your teenager having access to the internet?

Yes. It's something we need to look at. Australia have just banned all socials for under 16's I believe.

My point is that this is just one of many societal problems, and is vying for people's attention with a knackered education system, social care system, health system etc.

Top class TV. I loved every episode for different reasons.

Graham has always been a superb actor and Owen Cooper has a big future, to be able to pull off his performance in episode 3 in one take is very, very impressive.

I go up and down with Graham.  He’s been brilliant in some things like This is England, the Virtues and he’s great in this as well.  People go well over the top about him though.  I’ll tend to watch most things he’s in because they always seem to be good regardless of him.  I find him unbearable in interviews, never mind getting into the sun stuff.

Any accent he does is genuinely awful.  From the American one to the posh one he did in Bodies.  They’re all crap and sound put on because obviously they are.  The worst of all though is his own accent.  I wouldn’t even call it scouse.  It sounds like a scouser who’s forgot how to talk trying to put a scouse accent on.  It’s like John Bishop, I don’t think I’ve ever come across somebody who talks like him in real life.  I don’t know if it’s because he lives somewhere else and has done for a long time (genuinely I’ve got no idea) but there’s just something very off about the way he speaks and the fact he does his own professional scouser act a lot of the time goes in hand with it.  I always wonder nobody ever picks up on it.

I think he’s a bit of a fraud and the kicking off/not apologising about the sun photos backs it up.

I couldnt decide if she was crying because she felt sorry for him or that she saw that dark side of him?

They had little cues to indicate if the kid was struggling with lines. They did it perfectly. She’s a brilliant actor and all. Superb in a thousand blows.

He’s a superb actor and even more so if you can relate to the character he plays. The s*n thing was a mistake. You don’t have to like the man to appreciate what an actor he is. I can’t name another actor that just by looking at his emotion in any scene happy or sad you know full well what he’s thinking and being. That last episode in the van and the shop was a lesson to anyone who wants to act.

Do you not think he’s just doing a version of himself in most of his awkward/shouty aggressive scenes though?  You can name lots of actors that convey emotion on their face well.  I think his best scene in it was when his lad is getting strip searched.  It’s absolutely brutal and he doesn’t over sell it at all.  As I said I’ll watch most things he’s in because he’s clearly got an eye for what will be good.  I just don’t think he’s this amazing actor everyone says he is.

Personal opinions eh. I had to stop watching an episode of Virtues because it hit me that hard. Never went back to it. That pub scene was more terrifying than any horror move I’ve ever seen. He also stole the show in The Irishman which considering the cast was some doing

I thought it was pretty boring after episode 1. The one take stuff really held it back, IMO.

But I'm glad it's got people talking about the issues, which is great. Men are cunts, by and large. Violence against women has become an epidemic.

I also thought Stephen Graham had apologised for the s*n stuff, but can't be sure. Obviously shouldn't have done it in the first place.
