The whole team looked shattered from the kick off. That must have been Salah’s worst ever final, Mac looked injured, Jota and Nunez both awful. Just horrific all round. Chiesa looking better the only consolation. Best forgetten about. Thankfully there’s no game for 16 days.

Better team won. They had a plan, wanted it more and won every second ball and 50-50. The stupidity of that set piece marking is incredible and didn't change even after all the warnings. Grav has been on fumes for a month at least, Jota nowhere near any form. Yet he doesn't trust the players such as Elliott and Chiesa who did more in 20 minutes than the others did all game. He's learning about the rigours of a whole season but hasn't shown any signs of having learned anything. The subs were bafflingly daft.

Need to use this break to re-think and get things sorted for these last nine games.

I will never understand why you don’t play your best possible team in a final because f some misunderstood kindness to a player in a certain position. 
 

We play kids in the first few games of this competition every year, it does not mean we need to weaken our team by playing them in the final as well

 

Alisson should have started this game, and it would have been a different result. 
 

We got robbed for a stonewall penalty as well when Trippier handballed and punched the ball away from Diaz in the box. 
 

Thought the ref was terrible and even if we played shite it could have been a different outcome if the rules had been followed and we actually played our strongest team.

Well that was fucking dreadful. Not been in here as I was at my mates watching but I’m sure everybody has said how much they wanted it compared to us. The passivity of Gravy and Dom winds me up, particularly Dom who I’d happily sell for ten bob, but the whole team was rather pathetic. 
Mo is in one of his periodic every ball hits the ankles of the defender and is cleared periods, Jota stunk, Nunez clocked off weeks ago, Diaz is mad, jones does one thing right and then five wrong. Wtf is Slot’s problem with Harvey and Chiesa. It’s weird. Gakpo is unfit. Aah all of em. Fuck it. Let’s win the league and be happy.

I still have no idea what issues Slot's had with Chiesa, now he might be off anyway after being left on the bench so much but he could've been a good player for us if he'd had the playing time to adapt to football over here more. Elliott seemed to add energy when he was on and helped us look better too, could've started or been subbed on earlier. Next is Everton and they'll be in cup final mode as well because they're playing us. At least it's a home game, maybe the only good thing I can think of at the moment.

That was deeply disappointing - poor all over and frankly we got what we deserved - fuck all.

If the club ownership and management insist on sticking with a bare bones squad then surely next season we just play kids in the domestic cups for as long as stay in them?

 

With the added number of matches in the CL as well as the internationals, it makes no sense to treat these as anything but a distraction.
