I don’t understand conversations about choosing between trophies. It’s never that simple in real life - or even possible, for that matter.

And besides, as one of the biggest and most successful clubs in the history of the global game, why should we choose? Surely we have to go hard for everything? We should be in a position where we effectively have two sides anyway, even if one is more developmental than the other. So use all the players more frequently/judiciously/equally to ensure everyone is fit, focused and in form when needed.

I'd love to win all four.

The League is the one I most prioritise/value. (Bill Shankly said the same.)

That is all I was really trying to say to someone who is saying the gloss of winning a League title will be less (for him) for going out of the European Cup.

The "choose" thing is just as you say, "conversation". Maybe not real life, but a thing that supporters do tend to do. (Well, those lucky enough to have their team competing for trophies on multiple fronts.)

And yeah, personally, I'm no longer as fervent about the European Cup as I once was.

Did Virgil win the toss before the match and choose the ball rather than an end or did I imagine that?

As for the goal, there's no way the pass from the left back up to Dembele can travel that far with no-one getting near it. Either a midfielder or centre back has to be getting close to cutting it out or challenging him before he turns.

Yeah Dembele was in about 15 yards of space, someone definitely fucked up their assignment there as we were pressing with 6 v 6 in their half.

@Code

I've seen us win one league title in my lifetime despite us being in it every single season, I've seen us win two European cups despite only being in it about 15/16 times?

We are a bit of an anomaly as our 2005 team should never have won it compared to some of the other teams at that time.

But we're not and that's the problem. If we, or Slot, prioritise then that approach is 100% correct.

Obviously not.

How has celebrating with the fans anything to do with the performance?

That is utter woke nonsense!

Ha, ha, ha!!! Amazing.

Yes we have. He just doesn’t use them. Or they were sold/sent out on loan.

I’ll be fascinated to see if this changes next season after he’s had what I expect to be a very busy summer in the transfer market.

You can only win a max of 4 things (that actually matter) a season - League, two domestic cups and a european trophy.

Winning any 1 is hard (look at how many clubs rarely if ever do, look across to the pit and what is now a 30 year drought).....Winning 2 even harder, 3 incredible and very, very rare - and all 4 - unheard of.

This every fuckin time. I was going to say the same thing but struggled to keep it as concise as you.

Summed up in a nutshell.

Its why ive never turned my nose up at the league cup, its a major trophy.

But yea, winning the league is so easy it bores me now.

I thought it was Robbo at the time. They seemed to do the same thing a lot.

I reckon we’re going to sell a relatively large number of players. The ones coming in will be younger than previously too, I reckon. Not so many 24 year olds; more in the 19-21 bracket. I think there’ll be a left back, centre back, midfielder and two forwards. But there'll be more than that going out.

At the beginning of the season, I hoped for a decent domestic cup run and to challenge for the title against an incomplete Arsenal squad and a City squad that had to slow down eventually. Particularly with a new manager with an unknown ability to mesh his concepts with previously ingrained ones.

To hear us constantly promoted as one of the best teams in the world was nice, but we all knew it wasn't true. We've known for a while that there were upgrades needed at left back; that Jota's injury history and Nunez' being Nunez created an incomplete No. 9; that Diaz was perhaps not the best fit for the way this team plays; and that the contract negotiations would make for a strange season for three of our most key players. As it turns out, that last hasn't really even been true, but we also know we need more cover for Gravenberch. But, if FSG properly shells out in the summer, we will have a better squad next year, at least on paper, though replacing Trent will be hard. (I'm assuming VVD and Salah return, which I recognize may be foolish).

That PSG team played unbelievably well for a club that has a well deserved reputation of bottling the big match. They were fast, they were smart, they were smothering. In Paris, they absolutely deserved a win. At Anfield, the crowds provided the European night we've become known for; Ali again stood on his head; and we missed some significant opportunities that you have to take advantage of, when you're matched up against a squad of comparable quality. It was painful, but it wasn't a crushing as say, Madrid in 2017. [Also the officiating was horrible. It's not the reason we lost, but it was still an absolute shambles.] If we do a double, even a domestic one, everyone who's said this is absolutely right, it will be a successful season with a surprising club.

Up the Reds. On to Wembley.

Look at the full half glass of wine and not the empty half mate, if that makes sense in English.

Unless half empty is better than half full when it comes to Norwegian wine …

I suspect a nice Bourgogne shades whatever mulled vintage he's drinking.
