PSG (A) - CL Round of 16, 1st leg, Wed 5th Mar 2025 (8:00pm)

The biggest smash and grab you’ll ever see. Nothing was getting past Ali and he was bombarded with shots left, right and center.

Good win but the tie is far from over, PSG will fancy their chances of getting through still and so they should.

Keep Gakpo on tbe bench this weekend. Start Nunez and Gakpo next week. Nunez pace gave them something to think about with balls over the top. Jota is in one of the slumps post injury where it takes him 3 months to find his feet.

I'm saying this having not watched this game, Jota is the worst of both worlds for those games. Against this PSG team, you either have to try to gain some control by playing 4 midfielders, or you beat them with size and athleticism (Nunez), because they have a small defense.

Just watched MOTD and completely forgot they had a goal ruled out, such was what came afterward.

Shout out to Darwin to for the knee to their keeper. We have seen first hand the value of a blow to the keepers head, so credit where its due.

Or do none of those things and play Gskpo when fit enough, Diaz and Salah. Anfield is far different to what happened tonight.

Playing Diaz at striker would be an attempt at having more control, without playing an extra midfielder.

What else does he need to do when you’re seeing 5 minutes of action exactly?

Hahaha

The Raphina goal and Hoddle going, there's a slight deflection but that just brings it closer to the keeper.

It's going a yard or two wide without the flick

Alisson not just with the athleticism, but technically perfect in which hand to use on those cross-goal leaps and how to move to get it to the ball, making the right decision on what to do with the ball on the saves on the ground, sweep or control, push out or push upfield?, etc.

Yes, as good as I've seen.

A rocking Anfield could quickly turn into a nervous, nail biting Anfield if the game becomes a continuation of tonight, I don’t see how it doesn’t.

They'll absolutely crumble at Anfield. Then it's Villa, probably the most boring European Cup quarter final in our history and then a Madrid club, where they will not let us off like tonight.
