My old man was an Everton fan and we had some proper narks over text after derbies once I’d moved away.

I sent a message to another red as a derby was kicking off saying “let’s batter these small time cunts” but sent it to my dad by mistake. That went down well

Ha ha, superb.

Virgil is unbelievable at reading the game he barely has to make a tackle in a system that was designed on high risk high reward. High line with just two centrebacks covering the entire width of the pitch high up and he casually dominates.

I can't believe I'm about to agree with Dawson, but the fact he comes off games looking like he hasn't been through 90 minutes of football, or whatever, is testament to how easy it is for him. His read of the game, positioning because of it and ability on the ball is just mad.

Go ed, Richy la…..

I don't believe for a second he was injured. On the TV, just before he sat down, a defender tried a long ball & it went out on the sideline. Richarlson gave him a look as if to say, "that was shite, fuck this shit". Down he sat.

I don't know - he punched the turf a few times after he went down - was a show of proper frustration that said to me he knew he was fucked.

@Caramac mate, any chance of the bench shot of Mac Allister and Chiesa buzzing at the crowd’s rendition of ‘Allez, Allez, Allez’

Last thing we need in Anfield is more wools.

There was..

As for that Spurs song...i actually don't mind it how they do it.

On songs - we have a big problem with people singing too fucking fast - slow down FFS.....Allez, Allez, Allez has become mangled because people go too fast...not to mention it is ALLEZ not fucking OLE, which so many sing...

The VVD song is another that has been mangled.

I don't know why people can't slow them down a touch - sounds miles better when they are sung at the proper paces.

Good luck with that.

We lost that battle about 25 years ago.

If you don't mind me asking. How did you end up supporting Liverpool over Everton when you where a kid, especially with your father being a blue?

No worries mate. Back then my dad was a very pro city scouser, and our neighbours had season tickets for anfield for the dad and 2 kids. The dad asked my dad to take the kids while he was working away one time and my dad said “yeah, if my lad can come too”, so they agreed and the girl stayed at home with her mum and I went with the lad and my old fella. I wasn’t really into footy too much by then - had just started showing an interest in the playground kicks abouts, but would never sit and watch football despite my dad trying to get me into it.

I was 7, Liverpool Spurs 1989, and Barnes scored the only goal, and that was it. Totally obsessed after that. Dad took me to a few more games that season, and the seasons after, but he used to take me to Goodison too - we went to most derbies and I watched a lot of Everton games as a “neutral”, but I definitely had a real soft spot for them as a kid because of the way dad was with it all.

He became as bitter as them all as time went on though and many a fallout was had once I moved away. He sent me a blank text once to highlight the fact he didn’t want to talk to me about football anymore after a derby argument

I don't mind Dawson. He’s definitely one of the better pundits out there. Plus he’s spot on in this case.

No surprises, the ballot of doom is still  depressing prospect…

A good mate of mine is also in the ballot but is in Australia when the final is (he thought it would still be end of February).

I’m mildly more hopeful this year…

…still since I’ve been going to 20 of 21 finals can’t be sniffed at. If a certain poster makes a snide remark about this, it’s just jealousy.
