Robertson Played really well in a victory for Hull against us to back up having good stats.

Salah is a good example of the opposite of what you're saying. When Chelsea signed him from the Swiss league it was too big a step up to go from a league of that level to a top Premier League team. He needed to take a step in-between the Swiss league and was able to develop really well in Italy.

Mane came off the bench and tore us to shreds in a game where we were 2-0 up, he almost single handidly turned the game for Southampton scoring 2 goals and ended up beating us 3-2

Jota had two good seasons in the Premier League for Wolves and was signed because he had very similar stats to Mane.

Diaz had good stats and we were impressed with how well he'd played against Man City in the Champions league.

I'm not sure the reasoning with Gakpo but he's worked out ok so far.

They were still all players that if you had asked the fans at the time about them they wouldn’t have exactly jumped for joy.

But our scouting system was much better and we were much more proactive back then. We haven’t been anything like what we were when Klopp was building his first team.

How is that any sort of metric for anything? The average fan doesn't know shit.

Metrics is the point. We used to be on point with our transfer business because of our metrics and would pick players the fans might question.

Again people are missing the point. Maybe a few years ago we would have bought a Huijsen or a Kerkez and took a gamble or two.

Now we don’t do anything unless it’s easy and cheap.

Darwin Nunez: Oh

Hahahaha. I love Darwin but that tickled me.

Cole Palmer would be a very good signing but my sources tell me he isn’t keen on living in the north whatsoever as he may have gotten in with the wrong gang when at city.

There's specific stuff to criticize about our transfer business, and about the club, but generally, you just invent any negative talking point you can muster.

This post I'm quoting here is just complete nonsense. You're saying nothing.

Thiago Almada looks like a mixture of Latura Martinez and Julian Alvarez. By looks I mean physically, never seen him play but we should buy him, that's a good combo.

This is my realistic shopping list for the summer:

Ola Aina

(Free)

We need a new RB to cover Trent obviously, but Bradley is someone we don't want to obstruct the development of, but we need to be mindful that Bradleys injuries could continue.  Aina is battle ready but would also be happy to share minutes.

Dejan Kulusevski

(£60m)

It could be less, but they bought him for around £40m and they will have to accept some players will want to move on when they finish in the bottom half of the table.  Still only 24, he's a multi-faceted attacker, good pace but very technical. He's right sided but he seems more than capable of doing a great job as an 8.

Cheik Doucoure

(£25m)

Someone we were close to signing for £70m about 18 months ago, since then a nasty long term Achilles injury, but he's quietly played 12 times this season. No doubt he's rusty, no doubt he's not fit, but if Palace sold him they may not need to sell Eze or Guehi, so I'd consider this one.

Ederson

(£40m)

Will be 2 years left on his Atalanta contract this summer.  A combative mental midfielder who runs and runs.

Nico Williams

(£75m)

Again, 2 years left on his contract, it's worth a go to fill that left wing slot with a thrilling player.

I don't think I can consider a striker until there's some clarity on how we want a 9 to play.

Nice formatting and even better blue sky thinking.

BBC Sport saying we are interested in Ferran Torres who maybe available for about 30m. Studiously avoid City games other than against us and don't watch much foreign stuff so my only thought on him was that I used to be pleased when he played or was brought on against us, which isn't promising. .

Did you only think tactical fit should be a consideration after you decided on the right back and DM?

We need a RB, a free one is nice.

We can't keep relying on Gravenberch for every game.

We can't keep relying on Szoboszlai to run a marathon in every game.

The left side of attack is vastly inferior to the right.

There's no point in a 9 if they don't get serviced.
