Although it’s expensive, a PS4 cost £350 at launch 12 years ago.

The games are in line with what games cost these days.

I remember buying Star Wars on the NES for £50 in maybe 1991. That was an outrageous price. Loved it though. Managed to complete it even though there was no save or password system so you had to start from the beginning each time. Tough odds.

PS5 was £450 at its launch in November’20. That’s £561 now.

If you want to play it on the go, that’s £200 (which is very limited).

Another 2 controllers is £65 each.

Most new PS5 games are £65 each.

So, really, the Switch 2 is cheaper than a PS5 and seems to be getting all the more recent games.

It's worth considering not every console Nintendo have released has taken off successfully. The Wii U, Gamecube and Nintendo 64 were impressive but hardly groundbreaking hardware at their times, but all failed commercially. This new release needs to sell really well to justify software teams to release their titles, so pricing the console and it's first party games so high is very risky and could easily backfire.
