Don’t think I can remember a premier league game being called off for weather

The Anfield derby in 1996 was called off due to a waterlogged pitch less than an hour before kickoff.

The home match against Newcastle in 1997 was also postponed on the day due to the death of Princess Di.

The home game against Fulham in December 2010 was called off due to the the area around Anfield  being unsafe

We had a game called off due to slippery conditions (snow?) on the terraces and around the ground. It might have even been a derby at Anfield?

Fulham at home on a Saturday before Christmas , I was in Schipol for 35 hours from Friday morning to Saturday afternoon that weekend, no planes taking off because of 15 cm of snow.

Game cancelled because of slippery roads outside.

I was in Liverpool for less than 24 hours that weekend.

Hahaha never been more wrong. Worrying we’re slightly hoping tomorrow is off, feels like it helps them. Feels pivotal, win it and I think we win the whole thing. Don’t and failing to win 2 in a row is a chink in the armour that could do for us.

Think it is overlooked that we played city Chelsea Brighton at home so hard places to go later in the season.

Fuck me, I'm even older.

Postponements used to be a lot more common in the days before synthetic grass and undersoil heating. Saw a lot of matches played on pitches that hippos could have a wallow on.

1965 Champions Cup. It started snowing a couple of hours before kickoff time and called off by the referee when he inspected the pitch. That was the occasion of the Great Anfield Snowball Fight of '65.

I thought Arne’s Everton presser was very good. I like the way he defended Kelleher, as well as Quansah at RB. Anyway, I think he’s switched on to the occasion and their recent improvement. I’m actually more confident than I was before the Newcastle game. Trent should start and Joe will pick it up with the familiarity.

The word on the street is that there’s going to be a further review of the situation at 8 a.m.

The winds are actually predicted to be stronger at kick off time than they are now. Merseyrail are already announcing loads of cancellations, debris on the tracks and replacement bus services.

It’d be irresponsible to proceed with this, IMHO.
