It is equally as nuts that points away from home at tricky places are often treated like catastrophic results and a defeat is virtually 'sack everyone' time - it is all part of the shitness of modern footy and modern life frankly. 

 

 

 

Yep. I said all along I won't believe we've won the league until it's mathematically impossible not to.

Certainly seems that way. It definitely happened in 20/21 and to a lesser extent last season (although we hadn't really shown signs of imminent struggle in January 2024). Unless everyone of importance is fit and ready to play by the time the window opens, failing to spend properly this time around would be a terrible act of self-sabotage. The last time we signed a notable player from a position of strength in January (Diaz) we actually improved and were better than City in the second half of the season.

I was pretty annoyed leaving the ground last night, however, I did admit to myself that I probably shouldn’t be really.

 

First half was really poor. We were fortunate we only went in 1-0 down, it could / should have been more. 
 

2nd half was much improved and felt like we blew it at the end…. I think over the 90 mins that a draw was likely the fair result.

 

We’re 7 points clear. If I had been offered to be 1 point clear at this point I’d have been delighted.

I don't really fear any of the teams in this league, its fatigue and squad depth and not addressing key areas of the team that kills us nearly every season.

 

We are playing a fourth choice unfancied centre half at right back against one of the most dangerous players in the league, away at a hostile ground in a packed week and a third choice centre back we tried to flog. Our manager doesn't fancy some of the players, Endo, Quansah, I'd even go as far as Elliot who has hardly played since coming back when we have three games a week almost. We've got a bunch of kids on the bench who won't see the light of day and we are still relying on crocks to get through a season like Konate and Jota to name just two and of course the players who play week in and week out from here on in will start to falter and crack through strain.

 

We did nothing in the summer, didn't reinforce and now the squad is starting to get stretched again, just like it did last year and the year before and the year before that, throw in the contracts as well and this club just does its uptmost to sabotage itself, or to be more blunt, our fucking non football owners.

 

There's a cartoon a guy does on YouTube after matches where he banters everyone, and he has John Henry in it reacting to everything mo salah does in an attempt to save himself money. Its probably rooted in truth.

 

Overly pessimistic? Maybe, we are seven clear. But we've seen this dance before going into January.

I have to admit, he seemed to play bang on 5 minutes extra. They farted over a free kick for 90 seconds during added time, I did think there would be a little extra.

Perhaps they can feel a little hard done by there but any toon complaining the ref deliberately blew up to halt a quick attack while they had a 3v1 or whatever is incorrect.

Every single game we play somebody on here will claim the ref is corrupt. Even when we win. Even pre season freindlies. Last night he could have easily given them a penalty and added another 10 seconds for them to score. But he didn’t. Presumably whoever paid him off is pretty pissed off this morning. It’s really boring and embarrassing to be claiming the ref is bias when we’re 7 points clear.

Quansah tackle was a penalty to Newcastle. Then Salah should have been given a penalty at the other end. Also the pull on Diaz's shirt went in into the area and was a borderline pen/free kick on the edge of the box.

Those early yellows were key in limiting Mac and Grav. Both were innocuous and undeserved and the twat gave us no 50-50s. Shocking performance.

He wasn’t biased he was shite because he was inconsistent.
