Making us attack the Kop in the first half: they still don't seem to realise that it has no real negative impact. I don't mind Emery these days - he seems a decent sort when he isn't doing his 'thing' on the touchline - but, really, when a coach tells his team to try THAT 'tactic' all they're doing is suggesting they're a bit scared.

The advantage rule card amnesty was a big bonus for Villa last night.

Surely Bailey should have been shown at least a yellow even after the goal. They also avoided two other yellows by us playing on.

As it stands, you could injure a player but if play continues long enough there’ll be no sanction.

Scandalous really.

It fucking is. He gets man handled in every fucking game but gets fuck all in return from the cunting refs. But THAT foul and Coote's reaction beggars belief.

I am convinced Villa would have got away with it if Darwin didn't score. PGMOL would have played the "Coote played a brilliant advantage" line.

TNT showed a clear replay of referee's reaction.

It was ignored on subsequent TNT analysis and on Match of the Day.

Slot referred to it on his post match pitch side interview on TNT. Said it would have been interesting had Darwin not scored given the gestures Coote was making.

Agree with the Coote/Salah shouts, truly incredible the way he gets manhandled and never receives the fouls he should. To actually think he would go down with a chance to score when he is clearly ahead of Bailey is ridiculous (and that is not a dig at Salah). The ferocity with which he waves his arms to signal that that is nothing is enough to make by blood boil still…

One other thing, the 2nd to last video Caramac posted; Trent seems to defend worse when he has cover than when not. He regularly gambles when he knows he has someone backing him up. In this case that could have been disastrous, as Konate gambles as well. Pretty bad sequence for both of them, and one that would have been analysed for several hours on telly had Gravenberch not chimed in with a great block.

Trying to make a big deal out of the Bradley shirt pull, completely ignored that they'd clearly planned to impede and pull his shirt to get him out of position. The first foul was on him.

First thing I noticed on the replay. But no surprise it wasn't mentioned, given Jim Beglin was on commentary (again). Fuck sake.

Standard pushing and shoving in the box from a set-piece.

MOTD weren’t having it, in fairness.

The whole point of what he’s doing is to bring Salah down, it’s mystifying someone can be involved in football and not see this.

It’s not like Bailey even has the common courtesy to disguise it.

It's 'double jeopardy.' If the advantage is played and a goal is scored then nothing more than a caution can be given. It was an obvious sending off if no advantage was gained. The ref should have signalled an advantage by waving his arm(s) and allowing the move to continue.

That only counts for penalty decisions and only if there's a genuine attempt to play the ball.

If a goal is scored from the advantage then the player cannot be red carded for 'Denying an obvious Goalscoring opportunity.' The same could be reasonably argued even if the attackers got a shot in or missed the chance. The goalscoring opportunity was not denied here.

In the purely hypothetical situation of him actually playing advantage...

Of course it's hypothetical because we wouldn't have known unless the game continued without a goal or shot on goal and saw how the ref handled it. Exactly what were his gestures as I haven't concentrated on him,I have just watched the players.

His gestures were the standard cross arms extend arms thingy clearly indicating no foul
