Just back from the ground. That was fucking brilliant. I'm giddy out.

Yeah me too, was boss wasn’t it, everyone was buzzing at the end. I feel like the crowd is learning we need to maybe make an effort to back the players from time to time. Arne is educating us to a new way of playing and we look fucking tough to play against.

I didn’t follow this forum during this game, but people are down on our performance?

we bossed. That game. We let them

Back in A bit too much, but they never looked like threatening

I’d have preferred us to keep forward 45-75, but we beat a good team again.

this might all turn to dust, but for now it’s fucking boss

What a load of fucking shite.

I can see what Emery means about not really creating any chances.
Darwin’s missed header was the only really good chance we had from “open play”.

Both our goals, Darwin’s shit finish and another couple of good positions came from us breaking after one of their set pieces.

Maybe he should be having a word with his set piece coach.

Emery's a good fella, you could see the warmth towards Slot when they shook hands after the game. Hardly the first manager to engage in if-me-auntie-had-balls talk after a dispiriting result.

I’d be using both domestic cups to get game-time into whoever isn’t playing much in our small squad.

Hopefully Elliott and Chiesa will be in that group again soon.

We should keep a narrow focus on the two big competitions.

The amnesty thread is thataway...

We had Villa at arms length mostly, and their chances came through us giving the ball away or making mistakes I thought.

Villa seemed happy to sit and not give us the opportunity to hit them on the break, and only became more expansive with their substitutions with about 20 to go, and of course we hit them on the break twice, but also made other chances and were let down with the final pass or a poor finish.

Typical Emery tactics, time wasting and simulation to win penalties or fee kicks from the start, but Coote is so inept that the one he could have given (Bradley’s shirt pull on Torres) he consulted VAR on and they seemingly saw nothing, it would have been harsh though given that Bradley was being manhandled at the same time. Seen them given though.

The other two they were whingeing about were never penalties, Watkins swan diving after a slight touch by Konate and Torres treading on Ibu’s foot and not only going over but staying there when there was plainly fuck all wrong with him.

Once again we were defensively solid with Kelleher pulling off a couple of good saves, Virgil and Ibou imperious, Robbo better than he’s been recently and Bradley very good once he’d come on.

Gravenberch was excellent, again, Mac Allister and Jones less so, both giving the ball away at times, but both also producing some good moments.

Diaz played well and was our best forward, ironic given that the other two were the ones who scored. Nunez should have had at least another one, and Salah’s passing was atrocious at times, but, he got a goal, so all is forgiven.

We’re doing what is necessary to win, not a bad habit to be in, and making supposedly decent teams look ineffective by the way we control the games mainly.

Too early to get giddy about winning leagues etc., but I’d sooner be in our position than anyone else’s.
