This is starting to feel like someone going to see a band, liking them, getting to know them and then trying to dictate which songs they should play.  The pods are great as they are, they piss all over other footy related ones and are great to listen to when driving or walking. If you can't deal with a 1.5hr podcast then treat it as a two-parter and listen to it separately, it's not hard. The whole charm of the pods is based around 3 (ish) lads chatting shit about footy and other stuff, if you try to alter this then you are fucking about with the whole ethos that got you listening in the first place. Ingrates!

Absolutely bang on....

I don't think we should be "critiquing" guys that give up their own time on anything on to the pod.

As for structure and time scale.... Fuck off. If you want structure, go listen to some shit by the athletic!

As I said previously, I think the pod is great. It's my go to pod for match opinions.

I listen to taw the odd time, I do like that little stat nerd they have on from time to time. Can't remember his name, but the fella the talks a million miles an hour is a pain in the arse. I can't listen that quick, never mind talk the quick....

I think it's a strength of the pod that we have two different hosting styles, not a weakness. People will have their preferences, of course, but I don't think one is better than the other and I think Dave agrees. We complement each other well and it keeps things fresh.

Sometimes it occurs to me when I'm listening to the lads on a hilarious rabbit hole descent, or insightful tangent that goes deeper into a topic, that it wouldn't have happened with me hosting. I'd have moved it along before then and people would have missed out. Those tangents are the things people say they enjoy most about the pod.

It makes more sense to have a longer, more wide-ranging discussion for weekend games too; the timing of the recordings just open it up more to that relaxed style of chat – like a Sunday afternoon pint, which is how I think they come across.

I don't really have much to add about the content. It was how the lads were feeling directly after the match. We'll never shy away from that.

Also: Thanks for listening and thanks for caring enough about it to have this discussion. There's a shit load of podcasts out there so although we do give up our time to record it, the reward is felt through this engagement. I'm looking forward to recording later and we'll talk tomorrow.

Or when your listening at 2am in the morning when Pele suddenly gets mentioned...

The intention is usually an hour for midweek cup/CL group games and an hour and a half for weekend league games. It doesn't always work out that way, but that's the plan when we start recording.

Wait! There’s a plan???

The issue for me is not so much going back to Klopp too often, that's kind of normal so soon after his era, it's the highly selective memory of it all, where nostalgia just picks the highlights, completely blocking out all the shit, like all those horrible mid-table nil-nils with Chelsea, obviously achieved with our dicks swinging out and asking what are you gonna do about it.

Cheers for all the feedback. I tend to agree with the general consensus that it would have been better with me on it, but too much of a good thing, yeah? Greedy cunts.

Also, for a little look behind the curtain, it's miles easier to actually be on it with Chris giving structure and bringing you in, rather than whatever form of experimental jazz in blindfolds podcasting we do when Dave is "hosting" and we all have to just shout loudest or sit desperately waiting for gaps like you're crossing the fucking autobahn. Probably less legally actionable content and death threats under Chris too.
