Shocking ref. That last corner we had, there was a defender with his fist clenching Jota's shirt at his waist, and his other hand around Jota's neck. The only difference between that and the pen Jota got lastvweek was that he was stationary and therefore couldn't fall down. Still a pen, though, IMHO, and the ref also, like all refs, completely ignored the free hit that is the foul on Salah, only to book Macallister straight after. He's going to make the second half a nightmare in terms of pressing without more yellow or red cards.

Mostly great control on the game but creating very few actual chances.

Henderson could have saved Jotas first tbh. But jota probably should have buried that second chance.

We need improve with our final balls second half and try and find a little more space.

Primed for the obligatory sucker punch if we don't get another couple

I thought the squad rotation players did themselves no harm at all.

In particular Tsimikas was great going forward and actually pretty competent defensively. Jones was also good.

I wish we had capitalized on one of our 30 million corners.

The thing that stands out to me today is that we definitely need a new LB with high technical ability.

Tsimikas isn't a natural footballer and neither is Robbo, and that's mostly ok, but today they're being asked to take a lot of touches under pressure and Tsimikas could have punched a hole through their lines if he'd had a better touch.  Instead he takes a touch and then tends to drift backwards to look for the pass.

We've had 73%possession and we've given away 11 frees.

They've given away NONE! FUCKING ZERO!

This fucking cunt is literally refereeing us to a completely different standard.

It's fucking outrageous.

Fucking hell, that is quite a stat.

Really good performance so far, Grav and Jones playing really well - Jones already showing much more intelligent distribution and retention than Szob.  Tsimikas showing better technique and speed of thought than Robertson, and Gakpo's movement and intelligence an improvement on Diaz's patchy involvement.  Jota's energy, movement and intelligence causing all sorts of problems for their back line.  MacAllister being quietly ineffective - poor distribution and easily bypassed - needs to improve in the second half, but apart from that, the team putting in a really cohesive, assertive performance today.  Keep it going reds.

Could we do something with Love is in the Air ?

I can't avoid the homo-erotic intent in that comment, however...

Gravenberch is there, every time you look around

Gravenberch is there, he's solid and he's sound

And his turns, they make players look foolish

Ryan, he sways and he glides

He's a player we really believe in

And his touch is a sight for sore eyes.

That's completely the opposite of what's been happening.  Tsimikas has run ahead of Gakpo every time he's laid the ball off.  And to compare his technique with Robertson is laughable.  You know that unless there are acres of space to run into, the ball is going to be played backwards every time with Robbo, as he only has one foot.  It's depressing to watch.  Tsimikas is primarily left footed, but can play with his right, and does.  He has real technical ability, and is the best corner taker in the squad.
