By the way, this was a good performance. The goal conceded and the manner of it makes the game seem like something it wasn't. We were clearly the better side.

Interesting.

I only watched the highlights and I felt this way, so coming on this thread and seeing all the moaning from people who watched the full match was fascinating. If you look at the chances, Wolves basically had a goal gifted to them by a rare Alisson/Ibou miscommunication and ... a few potshots from distance?

Was the football in between the chances really that dire? Because if you just watched the 12-minute highlights with all of the big moments, it seems like we had 5-6 half-chances, 2-3 really good chances, and limited Wolves to almost nothing.

I don’t think there is a lot of negativity.  We cannot win every game 5-1 and the overall performance in the second half showed that we can control games even when individuals are below par.   That was the most encouraging thing from today.  There is plenty of scope for improvement from most individuals, and I’m not sure we would have won this game with the same level of individual performances last season.

It wasn't a good performance at all. Take the win, accept the points, be thankful we're top of the league, but it wasn't a good performance by any real measure.

It was absolutely a good performance by a real mesure.

He’s tightened us up brilliantly at the back. How many times did we see Virgil and robbo having to try and cover Trent and konates positions after they’d be stood on the halfway line watching the oppo run past them. Not seeing that now he’s reined them in.

Hes said there’s bigger tests to come. Arsenal aside, I don’t think there’s anyone to really fear.

I didn’t think they received the best service today.

Didn’t really create a lot. Dom should have scored in the first half and Mo missed an absolute open goal (created by Wolves).

We didn’t have any other obvious clear chances I don’t think.

Everytime they got the ball they gave it away. Salah was burning my head out with those under hit passes all game. I’m surprised the ball reached the goal with the pen.

Loads on here had Konate written off last season. Another plus in Slot’s ledger.

Every single player in our squad has been written off by loads on here. Possible exceptions are Alisson and Salah. Only a couple of months ago loads on here were harping on about how poor Diaz and Gravenberch are.

Average to decent performance that, and three good points away from home.

Wolves are decent, but doesnt score enough goals, nothing new there. We didnt start too well, but gained more control as the first half went on. Thought we were very disciplined off the ball, decent in the pressing and very good at tracking back when loosing possession .

Main proble was we were far from good enough in possession, and gave it away too easlily and too frequently. Salah once more was really bad at this and it’s really hard to strangle the opposition in an efficient way when he’s that wasteful:

We did enough however to deserve the win. Vand Dijk was brilliant and Konate also played really well apart from their goal. Gravenberch with another excellent performance, and Diaz and Tren also played well. Main disappointment once again was Salah, very wasteful on the ball.

Happy to get theee points from what wasn’t s very good perfomance. We deserved the win I thought; and anyway winning ugly is also a great habit.

Three points, happy with that, we move on.

Don't see how Alisson is at fault for the goal, all on Ibou that...basically stops playing with the ball at his feet and an opponent breathing down his neck, in the penalty box!

Just watched it on motd as I want really paying attention at the time in the game.  Completely on konate.

Also just saw the underhit pass by Salah, at no point was Jones onside so wouldn't have even mattered if it hadn't been a shit pass.

Some set of falsies on Gary O'Neill

It certainly is interesting.

First 15-20 we didn't get going at all, hardly created anything and in fact they had all of the ball. Then we got a bit of a foothold where we had Slobs chance but we were still poor. Too slow, too ponderous, sloppy passing. Ive never seen MacAllister this sloppy since erm, Wolves last year, but at least he'd travelled half way around the world.

I expected us to kick on second half but again we were slow on the ball. We are doing this thing where VDV or Konate get the ball and they just stand on it. They then wait to be closed down and just about get the pass off. Trouble is only VDV and Trent are capable and Konate and Robertson arnt. Robertson has always been a tempo player and is better suited to that approach.

Szoboslai, Robertson, Trent, Mac Allister, Salah were constantly giving the ball away. Konate especially went through a wild patch after conceding. the goal was completely unnecessary but came because we were too lax. I hate Neville but he was right - we slacked off almost to a stop.

We were lucky tonight. Had we not got the pen it might have been a draw. Wolves, for all their spirit are bottom for a reason, their defence is garbage and they have no attack.

Anyway so much for taking a step back. Players on 100k a week misplacing passes all over the gaff. Awkward.

While I agree with you here, who do you bring on though? Hes said chiesa’s nowhere near up to speed for the league. Nunez was ill and he doesn’t rate him anyway and there’s no one near the quality of mcallister on the bench.

Hopefully he gets heavily backed January to sort this.

I don't get the feeling he likes changing that starting XI too much anyway, but it's all about how much stock you put in his comments.  Chiesa played midweek,.surely he's ok for 30 mins?

Jones is the Macca sub, no?  If not, where's his minutes coming from?  Macca was that bad I'd not have minded Kelleher playing..

Konate is what he's always been - a good defender who is hampered by injury and the odd mistake.

I wouldn't have had Diaz in the decent performance list and I was calling for him to be replaced by Gakpo, but otherwise I'm in complete agreement with this post.

Wolves did absolutely fuck all. They provided the least amount of trouble out of any team we faced. Maybe Ipswich a bit less.

Yep, they were crap, no argument there. We deserved to beat them. Just disagree that pur performance was good that's all.

Our performance was better than theirs.

A wins a win. Away from home. Top of the league. Anyone moaning can fuck off.

Embrace it.

Nah.

I haven't read all the posts but I'm not seeing too much moaning.

Can definitely say it wasn't great stuff and still be pleased we won and we're top of the league.

Top of the league after 6 is better than not top of the league after 6 but it doesn't mean a great deal yet either.

Personally I didn't know what my expectations were for us under Slot and so I'm pleased, but I'm still able to call out when I think we've been a bit shit, and today was us being a bit shit.

Thankfully wolves are a lot shit, so we deservedly beat them. Nice one.
