Poor yesterday, no other way to dress it up. We lacked intensity all game, it was all lethargic.

First half I was satisfied with. We weren’t playing well, we did make a few opportunities.

Often under Klopp, we’d come out really motivated in the 2nd and start like a house of fire.

That didn’t happen yesterday, at all. I think we only made 1 meaningful effort when Salah cut inside and hit it with his right foot.

Too many passes were slow, under hit, behind players or we took the wrong option.

I thought only VVD, Konate and Gravenberch could say they played well, everyone was mostly off it.

I was a little surprised we kept the same 11 from Old Trafford, especially as the majority of those players played 90 mins mid-week. I’d have thought we should have freshened it up a little, however, when the subs did come, they were equally as lethargic.

The tactical change to 3 at the back didn’t work either. I dont blame Slot for trying to be proactive and force the issue, it just didn’t work.

As disappointing as yesterday was, unfortunately, there was always going to be bumps in the road after Klopp. Hopefully a learning curve for everyone and we benefit in the long run.

Nunez touched the ball 8 times during his 35 mins on the pitch and didn't have one shot. I think that stat along with 14 shots overall shows you how toothless we were yesterday.

Nunez didn't help himself. He played like a kid charging around all over the place, without thinking about his role.

I don't disagree we were toothless, we saw how difficult teams can make it for you when you attack within the width of the penalty area and that means they were able to defend with their back 4 maybe just 32-35 yards wide and the 4 in midfield even narrower and only a few yards in front of them. We just continued to keep doing the same thing. If I recall, their goal actually comes from us attacking too narrowly again, with robbo between the line of the width of the box and the penalty spot. Gravenberch our widest player at the width of the box and we just get lost in the congestion centrally again. Then when they broke, they went the width of the pitch, gravenberch couldn't get back enough to even make a foul and it was just too simple. They had 3 or 4 of them once elanga and Hudson odoi came on.

We need more players that have some grit and a will too win. The type who get a cob on when they lose. The aggression levels are shit. I know it's a bit of a Roy Keane thing to say but when there's a fight we are lacking. Mac Allister annoyed me with his rolling around crying over slight touches take the foul, get up and be a fucking man Milner style. Gakpo pulling out of a challenge that could of stopped the goal because he's more concerned about fouling someone than fighting for the win. Except maybe for Gibbs-white not one of their players would be near our team yet they came to our turf and done us over. Not one player looked like they gave a shit enough to win. Nobody jeering anybody up nobody taking control motivating the side they just seemed resigned to the fact they didn't know what do and half arsed everything.

The standard of football from those players was embarrassing. It's one game so this is just about that game but we better learn from it and not do that shit again at Anfield, Slot said he's inherited a world class squad he got nowhere to hide if he says he has the tools then it's his workmanship that's going to be under scrutiny.

Urgh. Your back.

After a summer of being a voyeur from a distance, a defeat and you think it’s safe to come back.

Ah pipe down you big wet blanket I’m only teasing.

No I’m not back. And for clarity Slot is on a hiding to nothing so I have no expectations.

Hows things in Leeds my old friend?

I think that gibbs white is a decent player to be fair.

But we didn't deserve shit from that game. Ok, we should have scored in the first half, and more than likely the game would have been completely different if luchos attempt went is as opposed to hitting the post.

But the Bradley substitution proved fatal. Obviously everything is easier seen after the event, so hopefully baldy conscience learns from his fuck up. Because his crap substitutions changed the game, in their favour.

Over and out

Scrutiny from whom? And what else was he going to say and why?

I'm not saying players not named here are bad or that I don't like them but off the top of my head he has a squad that contains Ali, Trent, Virg, Macca, Mo, Diaz, Jota and Chiesa. He really shouldn't be on a hiding to nothing and I think there's a good chance he won't be.

Forest mostly parked the bus yesterday, made some good attacks on the break and I think generally played really well. Not many teams in a similar position to them will do the same I don't think. If they carried on playing like that and had one or two top strikers they'd probably finish fairly high up in the PL I'd guess. They've only conceded 2 goals so far and haven't lost either so maybe they'll do well anyway if they mostly keep it going.

I only say that from the point of view they didn’t really bring anyone in, he hasn’t even got any players he’s familiar with from feyenoord.

He also has no credit in the bank. If things go tits up he will probably just get the blame and will be moved on. Isn’t his contract only three years?

Nothing against him but he’s like a Rogers 2.0 to me. He’s coming from an inferior league, he’s going to find out quickly the premier league lower garbage can catch you off guard. I mentioned yesterday at the bar to a few other Liverpool lads that he wouldn’t have come across a side like forest, a bunch of cloggers with no footballing interest and a donkey up front.

Proved true.

Everybody. I respect him for owning it. There's no 5 year plan no pre made excuses of a transitional season. He stated this squad of players should be competing at the top and the aim is to do better than last season. Those are the standards he expects and ones he will have to live up too.

I think Forest's way of playing yesterday is football kryptonite for us and it's been that way for a while because we play into the hands of that set up, Klopp managed to find a way though but a lot of the times it was frustrating and not pretty.

Forest yesterday is the perfect way to play us. Clog the middle, have a forward you can play up to and bring on fast wingers when we are getting desperate. The main thing I was hoping Slot could change from Klopp was a different approach to these type of games so that for me was a very concerning afternoon. It had nothing, no width, no intensity, no attempts.

I thought about how it'll have been a bit of a wake up call for him yesterday too. It might be good that this has happened early on though so he can learn from it quickly and try to work out how to counter it properly. Forest didn't play how we'd have liked either but I don't think it means they had no footballing interest.

I just don't know what else he could have said knowing that Klopp had that team competing and knowing that FSG are cheap fuckers who wouldn't give him a penny to strengthen.  I can understand people from the outside judging him against what Klopp could do with that team and against his own words, I don't understand our own supporters holding him to that.

To each their own of course.

We can only hope for his sake. As I said he has no credit in the bank and the fan base is already fractured and miffed at the summer.

Not really the decisive factor, but Gakpo should have fouled Elanga on the halfway line and taken the yellow.

It's kind of decisive in how we play or have played the last few years. City love a proffesional foul they take turns a piece in prevent attacks. We leg it back and hope to jockey a player out of opportunities. It's weird because of the bizzare fouls we do actually do like pushing someone over when it's us who are running out of time.

There's also the "not arsed" ones.

Who won't be a threat to Arne's tenure.

If Slot doesn't trust the squad players enough to rotate a single one of them in when several first teamers are leggy from the international break, then one wonders why he didn't purchase some players he could trust.

Because he has practically nothing to do with purchasing or selling players.
