I’ve been keeping my distance.

im in Majorca and decided to go and watch us and we are no different from last year. Still too slow, still can’t break a low block. Still have nothing off the bench. Forest were terrible but we were slow and casual.

first time I e seen us lose in 30 years of being away. You can read books on stats until your blue in the face but the fact remains nothing was done in the summer to move the needle so the same issues will continue to persist.

Look on this Majorca trip as your pre-season, mate.

Exercise those typing fingers - you’re gonna need them in the coming weeks on today’s evidence.

You can ride out poor performances when you have a striker like Haaland.

Nunez and Gakpo are not our saviours, unfortunately. I hope we sort this in January, or next summer.

If anyone wants to play 'throw some striker names around' I'll be in the transfer forum.

Still, only 1 goal conceded in 4 games is an impressive accolade. We're on course to concede less than 10 goals this season.

Ah mate my expectations are adjusted after Klopp. Slot is ok but he’s been in the Dutch league. He doesn’t come up against the forests and the kickers of this world.

But until the league throw the book at City it’s pointless anyway. We won’t be winning the league anytime soon not with city and not with FSG. So it’s best to make your peace with it.

last year I would have been raving mad but now I’m just shrugging.

We are going to have results like this, thats inevitable. 9 points from 12 in our opening 4 games isn't a terrible start under a new manager. I think the bedwetting is because this season is a great opportunity to win the league given that City will likely get points deducted. Lets see how we respond, Slots first bump in the road.

Bournemouth at home on Saturday after a Tuesday game is about as ‘get back on the horse’ friendly as you could wish for, if we’ve anything about us.

The way we started the season (the utd game) had everyone pumped up we have been very good up until today, today was poor and I think it's a slap to the face back down to earth whatever you call it. The reality is we still have a few weaknesses and they will need addressing (lack of a out and out 6) and probably cover for Salah (which we have in Chiesa I hope) They sat in and made it difficult we struggled against that set up under Klopp also. We won't win the league this year we all knew that deep down but we will be top 3 comfortabley and If FSG dig deep (I know they wont) and we get a few more players in  maybe a title challenge next season.

We keep hearing about a 6 but football changes quickly these days. We don't have a midfield that just rigidly sits in a certain shape where you have one player who just kicks shit out of everyone. We may need a midfielder but we didn't lose today because we didn't have a deep mid picking up balls. We kept losing it because we were trying to make every pass a killer ball when nothing was on.

At times yes in those games, particularly the first two, we were poor.

When a team lacks quality and a squad lacks depth it's an almost certainty that it will produce inconsistent performances and results.

I think most games we'll slip into these old habits and it'll gradually fade from how we play. I think today was just being away from training as a squad really. I don't want to read into today too much because of that but hopefully it isn't a trend.

Ten second half substitutions. A long goal celebration. Loads of breaks in play. Loads of timewasting by their goalkeeper.

5 minutes additional time was scandalously low in the circumstances, especially by the standard of the last few years.

I don't even think we looked for a killer ball it was just lazy and ill thought out all game. And I thought in the 6 role Gravenberch again was really good, he just had a load of old shite in front of him. Our subs gave us fuck all, but invariably Jurgens did too. Let's regroup and go again. It was a slap in the face for a few people today.

Alongside a top quality DM i think we badly need a top level striker games like today is where they make a difference City can operate on cheat mode off and on the pitch with a Haaland its clear Darwin is not at that level then we need to move him on we are going to have days like today over the season hopefully we learn from them

Challenge we might have when it comes to making changes is it looks like those who 'get it' in terms of the new ideas have been picked so far and those who haven't been picked possibly don't get it.

Look at how bad we were after the changes today....OK we were off it today before them, but after them we were totally clueless - I hope this isn't the case and these players who will come in will be ok with new ideas - but they looked miles off today. I suppose not being in training over last week or so and them all lacking mins under Slot is part of the issue but if they are struggling to adapt then we are going to potentially struggle

It may not be an issue but i wonder....

We wouldn't have scored if we had another 45 minutes. We where terrible today.

I thought we might have a tired game when I saw the selection. This was a good opportunity to start with our freshest players and bring on some of the rested first choice players after an hour if needed.
