Not sure where they are from but apparently reports we are looking at Semenyo or Mbuemo if Salah leaves

Neither can replace him obviously. I like both as players but don't see them as that similar. Mbeumo gets really good numbers and works his arse off but nothing really flash. Semenyo pace a d ability to beat a man is superb. Would happily see Chiesa gone and bring in both if Salah left. Give us 2 good options on both flanks

They're both really interesting players I think. The numbers aren't amazing for either though. It's so difficult to tell if they're ready for that mane like step up. I didn't think he was ready, but he was brilliant from day 1..what I find interesting about semenyo is how 2 footed he is. It would be a genuine gift to have a wide player who can go outside as well as in.

I think it's interesting that Slot has mentioned on a number of occasions how we're not making chances for a 9, but he likes to play with a 9. He's mentioned it from preseason and as recently as last week. It says to me he wants something different from both the midfield and wide forwards to what he's getting now..

Is Tchouameni good enough on the ball for what we want?

He seems more like an out and out six. We clearly want players that can be both a six and an eight.

I doubt Tchouameni is even on our radar now.

I'm not a tchouameni expert. But when I've seen him play, he looks a better passer of a ball than either Macca or grav and unlike either of those two, he's really comfortable at taking the ball off the centre backs and passing it quickly. Macca doesn't move it quickly enough in deep areas imo (or maybe he does, but not successfully) and gravenberch has his let the ball run across him and run, but seems completely incapable of making a shape to receive the ball and move it forward quickly. Our build up play through midfield has been poor so far. I don't think it's a surprise, as none of them were really bought for that, but from what I've seen of tchouameni, I can't believe he wouldn't be an instant up grade - if, and it's a big if, he still gives a fuck if he leaves Madrid.

I think we are fine in midfield until the summer. The likes of Endo, Elliott and Morton haven't really featured much and Nyoni looks really talented.

In January I'd rather we signed another centre back.

His name pops up a lot for some strange reason.

Morton has barely ever featured because he isn't good enough for us.

The only way he'll get regular game time is if we're well & truly fucked.

We're not Ipswich, we need real quality in midfield.

He wouldn't get a game for Ipswich.

I feel like Frimpong is such an obvious signing for what we'll be needing but I wonder if he is too one-dimensional.

You mean after our right-back hero fucks off to Madrid to replace the best / most underrated right back in the world?

Madrid fully intend to flip Trent. The new Michael Owen.

Have you seen Kalvin Phillips lately?

That doesn't matter. Ipswich had the choice in the summer who to buy..Phillips and Morton were both available. There's a reason they didn't look at Morton and it's not like he'd be a suprise to them, having played at one of their rivals last season.

Frimpong would be a boss signing, anybody that's seen him play a string of games could tell you this.

I'm sure he's right up Arne's street for the profile of player he'd want, would be on par with Szobo as our most energetic player and he could even play the 10 role better than him too.

Well I'd argue it does matter when he's directly been at fault for them still being winless, there were also reports Leverkusen and Atalanta were both looking at Morton and we blocked the moves so......

Now I'm not saying Morton is at that level, but there is no way you can judge the Phillips who played about 10 games at West Ham (& looked terrible in just about every game) to be a better choice than someone who played week in week out for a side that finished 7th in the championship earning rave reviews. Maybe they were after someone more experienced, maybe they thought the Leeds version was still in there. So far it's been a costly move.

To be honest, it's not a discussion I can be arsed to have. For me it's simple, Ipswich chose Phillips for whatever reason, experience, haircut, it doesn't matter. And if they've done the right work, and everything they've done since the change of ownership suggests they will have, then they won't be giving up on Phillips 10 games and 7 appearances into the season.

For the record, I think Phillips is absolutely shite. But I don't pick the Ipswich team. There isn't one game this season, before kick off when Phillips has been available, that Kieran McKenna was thinking "if I only had Tyler Morton to pick".

I quite like our no nobheads rule.

Klopp enforced that brilliantly. Challenge now for Slot to keep it up.

In fairness to the club, they’ve identified this potential problem by deciding that it’s safer to never buy anyone again.
