The tickling of rat fuck behind his ear was an underrated moment.

Out of rep but it was great, Virgil and Konate were brilliant yesterday, Simon Hughes called them a pair of "medieval jailers" when they bodied Ronaldo, Fred and the rest of them after he kicked Curtis in the 5-0.

Casemeiro’s challenge on Mac Allister early on was snide. He knew he was clearing the ball, but made sure the follow through caught Mac Allister high, of course, nothing was said by the commentators, and Taylor didn’t get a review from the VAR crew. To be fair to him he was blind side of the ‘tackle’.

nah, not for me. it was my first reaction, but when you watch the replay, for me it is a clear yellow. about as easy a yellow ever. shit challenge but not dangerous, not last man. i actually thought casimero on macca was worse, as i think that isn't a follow through, he keeps his follow through going to take him.

Yes.

If the game was more even, or if they were in front, I reckon it would have been a red.

Force and pace of it meant it was a big risk of serious injury to the opponent, and he was nowhere near the ball.

Could have been much worse for them with the disallowed goal, the penalty on Gakpo and a red for De Ligt.

Thought we eased up a bit after the third too.

Dom was excellent bar his miss, but I was still surprised Elliott didn’t get 20 minutes at the end.

Never a penalty but both Mo and Dom missed sitters.

De Light (weight) could have been a red as he jumped in and wasn't in control. Never going to get that with Taylor though. I was surprised he didn't stop goals 2 and 3 for fouls to be honest!

We broke on them 5v2 or 4v2 last season and didn't even get a shot away. Multiple times. Yesterday it was different.

Jota made a very unselfish run for the first goal, dragged 2 centre backs with him, opened the space and pointed to the back post where Dom and Diaz were waiting.

Huge difference in the way we attack and our composure when we get to the final 3rd under Slot. I love it. We need that calmness in the big games. We will do very well against the top 6 this season, where there are spaces to play.

Slots a very good manager, seriously good actually. Tactically solid, he's addressed the wide open gaps, we aren't so open when we lose the ball and are defending the 1v1 situations much better because there is cover in the right spaces.

With the ball....Dare I say it, we are man city esq in how we don't pass until we draw opponents towards us, making them commit, and opening up gaps elsewhere. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this yet, but we are definitely like man city when our centre backs and keeper has the ball. We play much riskier passes into midfielders who are marked, but it draws them in to tackle. Which opens up spaces elsewhere, and our players are quick to fill those gaps.

I wonder how long it will take other teams to catch on to what we are doing before we face a deep brick wall of 11 players in every game. Will be interesting to see how Slot breaks those teams down.

Great performance, men against boys. Totally dismantled them. People talking about not getting out of first gear, well I don't agree. Our shape and tactics meant we made it look easy. Just like Man City often do.

But none of this is possible without Klopp and the mentality he instilled in this team/club. Slot can't come in and get those players to play that way after 3 games without what Klopp did. Our players believe they can win, want to win, work hard to win. We press with aggression because of Klopp and the belief runs through the club.

I spent hours after the match watching pundit/fan reactions on YouTube. Seeing them all squirm like little fucking rats brings me joy. I'll never forget how they rubbed it in for those 20 years, I'll never let us destroying them at old Trafford pass me by. What goes around comes around. They were fucking stupid and arrogant to not realise in sport nobody ever stays at the top forever. Their day was always going to come. I fucking despise them. Shit club. Shit fans. Built by a manager who fueled the hatred for Liverpool. Fuck them.

Good post.

What I like about Slot is that he is clearly tactically very astute and he resonates a calmness. We were never going to get another Jurgen, but he looks like a really good manager. The players clearly rate him and that was a worry for me post Jurgen.

Read it here yesterday about how we had a tendancy to throw points away at Old Trafford, Goodison and Stamford Bridge the last few years. Jurgen will rightly go down as one of the greatest people in our club's history, but I wonder if his emotive personality played into the hands of the Mancs and Everton at times down the years. Slot is calm as fuck and that might work in our favour in some of those games.

Great to have United away boxed off. They might be shite but they have shown they can randomly show up at times. Hopefully against City or Arsenal.

I had us down for top 4. Now, I'm quietly hopeful of something more.

Great point about the calmness exuding into the side.

It feels natural.

Klopp knew we couldn't go full tilt all the time but when we tried to pull the reins back in that system we just looked flat - not composed and certainly not comfortable. And we were easier to get at if we did give it away trying to play possession.

Don't want to burst the bubble but one of the reasons we were so clinical was because there was zero pressure on the goal scorer . Their midfield and defense was lower half of the league stuff. Good confidence builder but on reflection they were shite and we were above average .

Villa away will be tougher.

I agree. For a challenge like that the difference between me accepting a yellow and screaming for a red is the height of the studs.

Hmmm. I think it was. Gakpo gets there first, he’s kicked through, he’s nowhere near the ball, it’s inside the box…

Still not a penalty for me, would be pissed if it was given against us. And dislike looking at these freeze frames as it makes me feel like I'm complicit in keeping VAR going.

Both players going for the ball, neither of them playing it, both legs coming together.

Is my brain broken or is that the man who has spent over £600m to win two domestic cups boasting about being second only to Man City?

I think there is a good chance he's the most thin skinned manager to arrive here, some feat that when you're out doing Mourinho in that area.

Personally I just thought gakpo stuck his leg across him to win the pen. There was contact, but I agree that's not a foul.

This is exactly what I thought too. Not a pen.

Taylor had a decent game also tbf but it is easier to say that after a win.
