I’ll have this on telly with the volume turned off.
If we look as though we’re on it, I’ll carry on watching, if not, I’ll take my granddaughter to the play park and worry about the result afterwards.

On another note, I can’t believe Anthony Taylor has us, yet again, for a game in Manchester and I’ll be hoping he doesn’t keep breaking the rhythm of the game up to favour United, which is what he usually does.

Good luck everyone.

Since United returned to the top flight games at Old Trafford all competitions:

10 Liverpool Victories   17.86%
18 Draws   32.14%
28 Manchester United Victories    50.00%

That's not far off the roll of a dice and calling for a 6.

Even when we're a demonstrably better side we rarely win there, pathetic.

Interesting stuff. That’s an even worse record than I’d have imagined.

Four wins in 20 years, one of them pretty forgettable because it was behind closed doors.

Those other three wins were absolute hammerings too thanks to Gerrard/Torres, Suarez and Salah respectively. The three Danny Murphy games aside, we never nick a win there. It’s either a horror show (most likely), a brilliant performance (a lot less likely) or a dull as shite draw.

It depends what they do tactically. Under ten Haag, essentially half the time, they'll be set up like an amateur team.

We could spend the entire match passing it through them and running at their back line our they could make us look stupid on the counter.

That late 70's/80's record given how much better we were than them is shocking.

I mean, I agree with everything Merson says, but the fact it’s coming out of two Arse holes rather than one does fill me with confidence.

I’ve been off work for a few weeks for a combination of holidays and bereavement, and I’m sure that watching this at 4:30 on Sunday will send me into my first day back with the requisite spring in my step.

Good luck to any poor fucker going there.

I was surprised to read that last season was the first time he's reffed us at Old Trafford where we haven't won. It feels like we have the fucker every time we go there but the only other two he's done were the 4-2 in covid and the 5-0.

I think this suggests to me that there is a significant psychological component (i.e. on the rare occasions we get ahead by a couple, it results in a blow out, as maybe the notion of United clawing it back or getting a late winner/equalizer dissipates?).

I just despair that it appears the club is doing very little regarding this and the Goodison fixture on psychological preparation, given the consistently terrible records regardless of placement in the league.

After the Arsenal documentary came out everyone was tearing into Arteta with him playing You'll never walk alone really loudly in training and shouting loudly at his players etc. to prepare for the fixture, but their results have started to significantly improve at Anfield and I don't think anyone would be surprised if they beat us at home this year. Granted this has also come alongside a significant increase in the investment in their playing squad.

Under Klopp we seemed to have issues at away grounds with particularly rabid fanbases (Red Star Belgrade springs to mind), I hope Slots team are looking at this in the round because we could do with a major reset with regards our approach.

For the massive shower of "it's there and it's them" pussies:

We should be beating them there more regularly by non-blow out score lines.

I get so fed up of the club in a standard year chucking away 4 to 5 points on two fixtures* (namely Goodison and Old Trafford away) prior to a ball being kicked regardless of Everton or Manchester United's league positions. Whatever the approach is to the fixtures it's not been working and hasn't been working for a long time, so it would be good if Slot and the sporting directors, data staff and psychologists attached to the club could actually do some investigation and then work on how we can start improving on out dismal return.

*This is also applicable at Stamford Bridge to a certain extent as well.

Nunez to do a Newcastle, started the first three games of last season on the bench just like this year but scored two of his all too few goals in the third game.

Get the winner in this one and you can pack it up for the season we won't force you to play against the likes of Toulouse, LASK and Union St Gilloise to boost your numbers.

Hopefully we will be 3-0 up by the time you pick it up, RR, as it starts at 4pm.

Their record at Anfield is pretty horrible too, it's par for the course in huge games between rivals when the home support get the bit between their teeth.

I don't think the Arteta/YNWA example really flies, the reason Arsenal have started picking up points against is because they've had a better team the last couple of years. Their record at Anfield is also shocking.

Just as they were ours in the 90's & 00's really.

That’s what makes me enjoy it so much when we win - that horrible arrogance they used to carry after beating us throughout my childhood. And how arrogantly and aggressively they celebrated the wins - players included with Beckham, Neville etc. Lingers in me forever that. And makes me fucking love doing it to them.

The way we’ve started, the way we play and the feeling of momentum slot has built with squad and fans, I’m feeling uncharacteristically incident for this one. And there’s none of the brainless “4, 5 or 6” shouts this time either. 1-3 to the mighty red men.
