I genuinely think the reason we lost to them is because of the sheer chaos behind how they play. They're unpredictable because even they don't know what they're planning to do next. It's like trying to fight the quiet kid in primary school when you accidentally step on his Lego and he comes swinging his arms at you and making Chewbacca noises. There's no defence for it.

That being said, from what I've seen so far, I fancy us being able to take the sting out of it early on and pass them to death, then a couple of swift stabs from the rapier.

I think it's simply because we didn't take our chances then gifted them a couple, in both games. When they took their chance, their crowd got up for it & we shat the bottle.

No mercy on front of goal & we should be ok but I'm certainly not holding my breath.

Good luck everyone.

Since United returned to the top flight games at Old Trafford all competitions:

10 Liverpool Victories   17.86%
18 Draws   32.14%
28 Manchester United Victories    50.00%

That's not far off the roll of a dice and calling for a 6.

Even when we're a demonstrably better side we rarely win there, pathetic.

Agreed.

I was hoodwinked into watching the matches in March and April - I won't be making that mistake, again.

Really Kevin, you won’t be watching it?

Is it just the Old Trafford game or both fixtures, and do you avoid result or watch later? Last season aside, we’ve had some hugely enjoyable recent days against them at both grounds.

Last March/April were horrific though.

I’ll suffer through it on Sunday, but it is different to every other game.

It's them.

I want to destroy them. I want them pulverised. I want to see them cry. I want to see them vomit. I want to see them soil themselves. I want to traumatise them.  I want them humiliated so badly that their families disown them.  I want this defeat to become a story that Mancs tell to scare their children generations from now. I want us to score more goals than them.

Just get these beat, Reds.

We scored plenty of goals, yeah we probably should have scored more and buried them early, but we did still enough up front to win those games easily.

Just lacking that wee bit of defensive discipline to see us through.

Hopefully a little bit of controlled slotball will be the difference maker and we'll comfortably beat them

If we don't fall in the trap of playing the occasion instead of the game we'll be fine, we know what follows when that happens, we dominate 90% of the game, get too comfortable then give away a goal, buckle to the pressure of the crowd before we gift them another goal and we lose 2 or 3 points.

We're a much better side than they are, only way this is tough is if we make it tough for ourselves.

Looks like Mount has declared himself out for this game?

Like it or not, they are very good on the break, and they like to leave two attacking wide players on the wings so they can launch it to them at every opportunity. As long as we don't get sucked in to committing too many forward or lose the ball cheaply in their half, then we'll be fine. They're not that good at any other aspect of the game, especially if they're expected to do the attacking. I fully expect an away type performance from them on Sunday. There are definitely three points there for us if we get it right tactically.

As for the game, I’ve got no idea what to expect.

No doubt they’ll be frothing from the mouth to stop us. Can’t blame them, we’ve been the same in their position of underdogs and have been just as rabid.

Quite glad Mount seems to be out. His willingness to press with Fernandes in that double false #9 role has been a positive for them.

Hopefully we have learned our lesson from last season, we must be clinical and kill the game. It’s unlikely they’ll pack in and accept a pumping, we need to force the issue. I’m more hopefully this season given Jota is available and Salah is fully fit.

Huge test for Gravenberch. Wouldn’t surprise me if the mancs target him as a pressing victim and really try to unsettle him.

No idea how this plays out at all.

He wouldn't have featured anyway.

He hasn't played any football since Uruguay got knocked out the Copa America.

You’re forgetting the most underrated phrase in football…

”X player has been declared fit and available to fit Liverpool”

…I’m sure he could come on and kick shit out of our players without repercussion for 15 mins.

It's at old Trafford at the very best we will draw. We may deserve to win but we won't. We will spoon umpteen chances and they will score after one fuck up.

The 2 games there last season were unbelievable.

In both games, the performances were really good, easily amongst the best we’ve produced at Old Trafford since, well, I can remember.

Obviously the 0-5, 0-3 & 1-4 take some beating, in terms of actually dominating the games, both were good performances (we rode our luck early on in the 0-5 and even though were 1-2 up, there was absolutely in terms of performance levels between the sides in the 1-4 before Vidic was sent off).

I went to the league game with Turdseye. Our conversation the whole 2nd half was like this…

SM - “I don’t believe this”

Turdseye - “I don’t fucking believe this”.

SM - “I really don’t fucking believe this”.

Turdesye - “I really, really don’t fucking believe this”.

SM - “I really, really, fucking don’t fucking believe this…”

…you get the idea.

Play like we did on in those games and we’ll be Ok on Sunday.

I just hope we show up. I’ve seen us far too many times shit the bed and only start playing when we’re 2-0 down.

Its never a good time to play these scum bags but this is too soon.

Maybe. They could say the same. I’d rather be there now than we were in 18/19 and last season needing to win for the title.
