He's not fat is he as @Code points out. He's hardly micky Quinn . And if it's a couple of pounds, it doesn't take 3 months to lose it - molby went far to fit as a butchers dog by spending a couple of months in prison!

Need to send Chiesa to Chester and have a fight in a gay bar then....

If the measurement was you don't play if you're fatter than Salah, we'd be picking from a squad of 1!

He looks soft compared to the standards of our squad - of course he isn't fat compared to the average joe, but it isn't the average joe he is up against.

He is deffo carrying weight and as i say has been since day he arrived.

So what's he and the club been doing for 3 months? I can accept he didn't arrive in good shape, but I don't really understand how he can be so unfit, pass a medical, be fit to play, get a few minutes and then be told he's not fit enough, spend 3 months gaining match fitness, get in the squad and then he's unfit again. Even if he was out of shape when he arrived, we shouldn't be leaving him at home so he can train nearly 4 months later. I think you're kidding yourself if you think this is pure match fitness and conditioning.

There is clearly something wrong with either how he is living or his application to training or maybe a bigger issue.

But what is clear is that he isn't "injured" in the usual sense of the word so all we can do is accept what Slot has been saying which is that he isn't fit enough.

Here are the latest comments from him:

After the win over West Ham, Slot explained: “With Federico I’ve said it many times already, we are working on two things.

“We are working on his match fitness and whenever we can, we try to bring him on the bench with the team.

“But he was on the bench during the week and we thought it was better for him to have some extra training sessions instead of joining us, so it’s a constant balance we have to find between getting him fitter and fitter and letting him join the team.”

Yeah I saw those words. What I'm saying is it just doesn't add up. If you can't get him capable of playing football in 4 months, from a fitness base of a professional footballer already, who despite an injury history, he has played enough over the last 2 years, you're never getting him fit. If this was 4 weeks, yes, but 4 months? Either there's an underlying injury problem or we're going through some motions to bounce him on somewhere else, or both. If he is eating so badly we can't get him fit in 4 months, we're never getting him fit.

These days, sometimes the manager can't talk about players injuries..it could be he has a problem (let's say similar to Jones before, where you just have to have rest days when the doctor says, regardless of match and training schedule) that Chiesa just doesn't want published publicly.

Oh i agree it does not add up. I've said myself on here has had 4 months to focus on getting fit and he didn't really miss all that much training in summer when look at it...He was with Italy playing games until the end of June - he appeared in all 4 of their ganes at that euros lark.

We'll find out IMO what is what in Jan - if he isn't involved then with the cup games and the virtually dead european games then clearly there is a bigger issue....

At 10m and 80k per week, you never know, loads of teams could afford him, including half our league. Get a call into Jürgen and get him at Leipzig or something.

I can't see anyone buying a player who has been deemed unable to play all season so far without an actual injury.

Maybe but i doubt it.

Chuck him in for Accrington, maybe even spurs, then get him sold. Desperate teams are stupid. He might be great for Leicester, Everton etc.

I'm quite surprised that in our glorious history we've never signed a decent Italian footballer. Or am I missing someone obvious? Aquilani was an overpriced crock. There's Borini who was rubbish. Chiesa is clearly better than them both but will we ever see the best of him again? We just have poor luck when it comes to Italians.

'It was just bad luck. Faulty electrics or something.'
