Fair enough, I hadn't been following the rule changes much before the draw, although that in itself is wrong for me, that having a great co-efficient counts for nothing anymore.

Do they differ between home and away games, do away goals count more?

 

It looks like it, because Milan are behind PSV and Stuttgart as well, thats bloody ridiculous.

They mentioned 16pts will guarantee top 8 and 10pts should get top 24. That's 6 points covering 16 teams so there are going to be a few teams on the same points. Milan were in pot 2? Maybe Bayern had the right idea.

Well Im glad I did, because now Im well aware of this shit.

 

Imagine looking at the table after gameweek 8, seeing three teams with the same points and goal difference, one is through to the last 16, but the other two need to play qualifiers. 
 

How confusing would that be?

I usually tune in and watch Champions League games but I haven't this week other than ours.

 

Any tie between two half decent teams lacks any jeopardy as they're both definitely going through anyway. I'm not arsed if one of them has to play an extra round. Proper shite format.

I don't know - It is quite novel having a league table where your final position is determined via a completely different set of fixtures to the other participants.

Yeah it is a joke - just said this in other footy thread:

 

GD could be the difference between top 8 and not making top 8 and as we don’t play any of the real dross we are at a disadvantage potentially. Loads of teams getting the opportunity to run up GD which is like an extra point.

PSV Lille Girona and Bologna are all absolute shite tbf. Our keeper cost more than their entire squad assembly. If you can't pick up 9-12 points there then you don't really deserve to finish top 8.

Many of these Champions League fixtures are Europa League level & even Conference League.

 

Brest v Sturm Graz, Celtic v Bratislava, Lille v Bologna, Young Boys v Stuttgart etc... Absolute crap.

 

On another note Pep Lijnders is having his arse handed to him so far. 3-0 & 4-0 defeats to Prague & Brest.

And if you do pick up 9-12 pts against them and end level on pts with a team who have played the real dross like Bratislava for example and miss out on top 8 due to GD, do you think that is fair/shows sporting integrity.

 

A league where teams do not play the same fixtures is IMO a farce and I haven't seen a single argument yet to convince me otherwise.
