We mentioned earlier that a 28-year-old man is due in court to be sentenced for violent disorder following an attack on a black man in Manchester city centre on 3 August.

Liam Ryan, of Thirkleby Royd, Bradford, West Yorkshire – who was shaking and wiped away tears with a tissue – pleaded guilty to violent disorder last week and was remanded in custody.

brave patriots

The video of that attack was disgusting. He’ll be more than crying when he gets on his wing. Racist cunt

Judge John Thackray KC, the Recorder of Hull, has suggested that some of those involved in the disorder in the last few weeks should be charged with Riot and not just Violent Disorder.

The judge said, "The prosecution do need to look - for those who are playing front and central roles - at the alternative charge of Riot rather than Violent Disorder".

The offences are similar in many ways, but the maximum sentence for Riot is 10 years and the maximum sentence for Violent Disorder is 5 years.

The most significant differences between the definition of the two offences is that Riot must be “for a common purpose”. Also Riot must involve 12 or more people and Violent Disorder only 3 or more people.

No-one has yet been charged with Riot in the last two weeks. Those being sentenced for Violent Disorder have been getting prison sentences of between 12 months and 3 years 4 months.

That is because at this stage all those being sentenced have pleaded guilty, which earns a third off the sentence. Five years (60 months) minus a third is 3 years and 4 months (40 months).

Only one person has been given 3 years and 4 months so far. He was Gareth Metcalfe, who was involved in the rioting in Southport and was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court yesterday.

id do with them fucking riot

A 49-year-old man who was part of a mob that broke into a hotel housing asylum seekers near Rotherham is jailed for three years.

Father-of-three Trevor Lloyd, of Oak Avenue, Rotherham – who admitted violence disorder – filmed on a phone as the hotel was breached on 4 August and then followed a group of men into the building, the judge heard.

Sheffield Crown Court was shown TikTok footage of the crowd breaking into the hotel, bringing items including furniture and fire extinguishers outside and then throwing them at a line of police and forcing them to retreat.

The Recorder of Sheffield, Judge Jeremy Richardson KC – who has already sentenced several people in connection with the riot – said this was the "worst footage I have seen".

imagine being a woman either working in the hotel or an ayslum seeker..you would be fucking terrified.

Yeah it would be nice if there was some kind of consequences for the people actually organising and inciting the situation, rather than just Barry from Eastleigh shitposting from his garden shed after it's already kicked off. Barry can fuck off too, mind...

Just finished "How they broke Britain" by James O'Brien (I highly recommend it by the way) and this article sums up where we are as a country perfectly.

I agree with the fact that he was a wholly ineffectual leader in both how he dealt with the constant accusations against him and his opposition to Johnson and Brexit (in the book, I feel O'Brien is most pissed off about this). He does skim over some of the more ludicrous accusations that got levelled towards Corbyn, but as he also says in his book, the right wing press were always going to do that.

Anyone else think in the cold light of day some of these sentences are a bit hash?

I'm not comfortable with some of it, would probably be the same with a lot if I'd read through all of what's been handed out.

There's one guy that got sent down for 8 weeks for posting two words and two emojis on Facebook. I'm sure he's a racist cunt but what the judge said seems to sum most of it up : "It may be right that the starting point is a community order for this offence but I am afraid this has to be viewed within the context of the current civil unrest up and down the country."

Maryport man jailed for Facebook post on police bid to stop disorder

I'd prefer it if they focused mostly on those deliberately trying to stir shit up with large followings online, the hotel pogrom scum, those either being violent or threatening violence towards minorities/asylum seekers and those that were trashing hotels with asylum seekers in with stones/bricks, etc, during protests. Also the "are yer white" traffic stopping scum too and probably several other cases.

People stealing some pasties from Greggs, etc, though, if they weren't involved in other stuff I think they should have normal punishment. Mainly to focus on the root of the problems we saw, the violent racist cunts, and not do some wide ranging thing for those that weren't proven to have been involved in that. I can't remember much about the 2011 riots but I never agreed with some of the reaction to that and I feel the same with some of this.

23-year-old man who threw objects at police during rioting at a hotel housing asylum seekers near Rotherham has been jailed for two years and four months.

Elliott Wragg, of Assembly Way, Barnsley, admitted to violent disorder and was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court.

Wragg was one of a large "mob" of around 70 to 100 people who were throwing objects at a group of 10 police officers outside the Holiday Inn Express on 4 August, the Recorder of Sheffield, Judge Jeremy Richardson KC, said.

Dale Harris, defending, said his client said he had "no racist views" and his actions were "wholly out of character".

just beacuse I attacked a hotel with asylum seekers in,doesnt mean I am a racist
