'I accept the defeat because the best team won'published at 22:52 Greenwich Mean Time

FT: PSG 4-2 Man City

74d215d1-1b6a-4091-8523-c65e2179b1e8.jpgManchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola speaking to TNT Sports: "The first half they had some moments, we had some moments, but they were better. We scored the first goal, we could not control it. In that moment we were knocked out and they were lifted and then they were better. They were quicker, faster, stronger in the duels. They had control in the middle and we could not cope with that.

How wonderfully humble and magnanimous of him to accept the defeat. What a man!

We are getting one of these four as it stands, but it will likely change by next week.

I can't see Celtic getting past any of these three.

At this point I don't fear anybody in Europe and if we are to face Madrid I'd rather do it sooner than later.

Wouldn’t mind any of them

I’m very interested in Barcelona.

We’re the best team in Europe and the only team I’ve seen who’ve impressed me have been Brighton in the first half.

It’s been difficult to figure out if we’re good or just better than the rest.

Bayern and Madrid will definitely move up and probably Dortmund. More likely to be Brest  Feyenoord/Lille in those spots.

Whole format is dogshite

Totally void of sporting integrity with teams playing different fixtures but ranked in same league table, then to cap it all - finish 24th in a 36 team 'league' and still be in with a chance of making the last 16.

And goal difference could be decided in a format where some sides drew really weak teams. It’s a total fuck up.

Don’t that lot play a 2 legged game against teams 17 to 24 so you could theoretically get a side in that section?

I think it's worked out like this-

8th plays winners of 9th vs 24th

7th plays winners of 10th vs 23rd

6th plays winners of 11th vs 22nd

5th plays winners of 12th vs 21st

4th plays winners of 13th vs 20th

3rd plays winners of 14th vs 19th

2nd plays winners of 15th vs 18th

1st plays winners of 16th vs 17th

Which kind of seems as bullshit as the rest of the format.

Or is it first plays lowest ranked qualifier? So 1st might play 16th or 24th depending on results. Don’t know, just trying to interpret the rules…

It should be but it's set as Mudface has posted. Lots of stuff ends up being meaningless in this format, like being in pot 1 for the draw. Obviously the aim is to finish top 8 and top 24 but once the playoffs are finished being 8th is possibly an advantage, likewise being 24th.

Yip , I see from the round of 16 the rules are the old rules.

Just realised that Manchester is getting sacked today by Scottish barbarians marauding south of Hadrian's Wall.

Fucking hell I remember last time that happened, Rangers fans destroyed Manchester. The media was an uproar about it. Funny though.

They’ll find themselves right at home back in Piccadilly Gardens these days. Although the current occupiers might think them lot are bringing the area down today

That’s the thing, it ended up being not funny when they started leathering people walking home from work, smashing up people’s cars and a big gang of them jumped a police man and surrounded him booting the shit out of him. Fucking scumbags, all fans have an element but these are the worst of the lot.
