There’s a table on RAOTL which shows the complete draw.  Basically 16 and 17  and 15 and 18 play each other and the winners play 1 and 2. In the quarters 1 is seeded to meet 8, in the semi’s 1 is seeded to meet 4. Well something like that anyway.

Finishing top may or may not matter. Whole lot of luck involved in the draw. Just like the old format you might finish top of the group and find Real or Bayern finished runners up and get a shit draw while you might finish second in a group and end up playing someone like Porto that have topped a easy group. Its just about finishing top 8 for me and see who you get

I like the new format, and haven't see too many games with nothing riding on them unlike the old format. It has helped that BBC has some highlights this season too.

Yeah I've just been reading about it on Sky sports.

 

Looking at the remaining fixtures though I think both Madrid clubs and Bayern will move up the table by the end of the group stage.

Only if the best teams finish in the top positions. I wouldn't be arsed about avoiding Villa until the final for example. There's also a possibility of a top side landing in the lower positions we can draw in the first knockout.

 

I had heard 1st/2nd meant home second leg for the knockouts but it doesn't look like that's guaranteed in the graph there as one of those routes goes to a 3rd/4th spot.
