Salah was playing in a top side . He would have been lucky to net double figures playing for the shite

What a load of fuckin nonsense.

If we had swapped Isak and Nunez, Salah would have at least 20 assists as a start.

Salah: 34+10 games - 25 goals - 13 assists - 2 yellow - 0 red

Gordon: 45+3 games - 12 goals - 10 assists - 10 yellow - 1 red

Not nonsense . You’re comparing strikers in one top side and one poor side . Just factor in the average possession stats alone and it will skew the results toward Gordon

Anyway it matters little , I hope we sign the ugly little fucker

Newcastle played in the CL last season, we did not.

If Salah was a Newcastle player they would play in the CL next season as well, while we would be in for another season in the Europa League.

I want us to sign Gordon, but let us try to be a little bit realistic here.  Gordon has as many yellow cards as he has goals.

Interestingly Gordon seems to only have two years left on his contract, so if he doesn't sign a new one in the next twelve months I'm sure we will revisit the deal next summer.

This is so odd.  He only signed a 3 and a half year deal at Newcastle.  If you look back to the reports on the day they tried to cover it up saying he had signed a “long term deal” which was clearly spin at the time.  They 100% knew they would be in this position 18 months down the line.

I’m not the biggest fan of him.  I think he’s the biggest cheat in the league.  He wins pens and free kicks but they’re the sort of things that we don’t get so when you take them away what are you left with.  When situations like this come up though it’s just an inevitability about it.  He’s a Liverpool fan and wants to come here.  If the club think he’s good enough then it will happen at some point in the next 2 years.

If he only signed a 3.5 year deal, if he was signed for 40m, he'd had amortised 17m of that already, so would help them with PSR even more. If he has had his head turned, he just doesn't sign a new contract this summer and they'll sell before the summer is out.

Reports are they are offering him a new higher paid long term deal. So we will see how much he wants to come here. If he digs his feet in and says im not signing it'll happen, though wouldn't be shocked to see Newcastle make him wait a year to show everyone they are no pushovers

If he refuses to go anywhere but Liverpool though then that doesn’t help them with PSR.  He knows they won’t force him to sit on the bench because they haven’t got the squad to do that.  They either keep him and take even less next year or accept what we offer which won’t be an auction.

The fact he signed 18 months ago makes the amortisation so far pretty much irrelevant.  The PSR covers 3 years so they signed him for 40m and if they sell him for 40m they’ve still made no profit on him.

PSR calculation doesn't cover the 3.5 years they've signed him for. That's the whole point of amortisation and is a normal accountancy practice. The profit that Newcastle can book in their accounts is their sale transfer fee minus his book price. His book price is his buy transfer fee minus amortisation.

This is where I always was until about six months ago. He's developed into a really good player now as he's added end product that wasn't there before.

He's still one of the biggest cheats though, no question.

You type the first sentence and then follow it up with THAT? No sense of irony at all.

Salah's goal tally would drop significantly because Nunez is the one putting most of his goals on a plate for him, Isak wouldn't do that.

I’ve seen some Newcastle fans saying that if they get £50m profit on him they can spend between £200m-£250m and the league ain’t ready for what they’ll be cooking if that happens. Given these are the same chaps that punched a horse so they’re very likely not as clued up on financial regulations as they think they are but it would explain a world in which they are prepared to sell a top player.

Incidentally I also saw some Evertonians saying that Dyche was ‘cooking’ when they were linked to Minty and Billy Jean on the weekend as if they were remaking the Barce front three. If Dyche is cooking it’s a nice bone stew with a side of worms.

Theoretically a 50m profit does free up 250m to spend, but it's not completely that simple. Obviously Newcastle will have a budget for this season to comply with PSR. If they book a 50m profit, if they're to spend 250m on players who all sign 5 year contract, well that is just 50m amortised in in 24/25 season. But any spend over what they pay Gordon in wages, including agent fees, takes away from that 250m.

Also, all those additional yearly costs (wages and amortisation) of new additions eat into next year's budget (in fact the next 4 years). So you either need to increase revenue to cover it, hope the rules change, or find another 50m profit from your squad.

Nunez was selected because he was good for the team, not only Salah as Code doesn't see beyond him.

It's says Code will share it if it paints Mo in a good light.

This might explain it, also remember France and Germany have both 18 teams leagues. It also only include wingers.

I think the numbers below should be correct.

Goals in different leagues:

Premier League: 1246 goals (49 own goals)

La Liga: 1005 goals (28 own goals)

Serie A: 992 goals (24 own goals)

Bundesliga: 985 goals (25 own goals)

Ligue 1: 826 goals (22 own goals)
