I thought that earlier as well.

They've been trying to paint him as the bad guy from the start.

Seems completely unnesscessary given we have 4 players who can play LW to a good standard. Priorities must lay elsewhere.

Who?

Gakpo has never looked good on the left for us,he has only ever really looked effective up top. Jota won't be fit half the season.

Gordon will be superb for us.

I might even start to call him Flash.

Can just imagine the kop when he scores " Flash , ah ahhh - he's not the best looking like "

I think he’s an upgrade on Diaz or Gakpo. Jota’s never fit and Carvalho isn’t really the same kind of player, he’s more of a ten.

I’d defo be upgrading Endo or Darwin before Diaz but we are sticking with Darwin for now and there doesn’t seem to be an obvious upgrade on Endo who is actually available.

Gakpo looked superb at PSV and for Dutch on left, Diaz for me is still better than Gordon, Nunez is decent out there as is Jota.

Personally I think Gordon is ahead of Diaz. Or will be as he's on the up and Diaz really is no different a player than when he arrived. It seems the accepted wisdom that Diaz will probably need to go to accommodate him. But I do wonder what job Diaz could do on the other side. He's had a few games there and done well. But I always think all is best work is conventional winger type stuff and it all goes wrong when he inverts and comes inside. He's great at getting us up the pitch. He's great at getting stuck in and working without the ball. It's just all the last 3rd stuff. Maybe he'd be better if he went outside and put some crosses in. And Salah won't be here forever or it perhaps gives a chance to rotate him, play him more centrally or just do something different and cause defenders different problems.

He didn't look superb at all for the dutch in the big games. Everytime they played a decent side and it got physical he slowly drifted out of the game. He played well against Championship/Relegation level fullbacks.

And looming in good in Holland is like tearing it up in Portugal, it's so far behind the required standard it's not anything to judge by.

I like Gakpo as a sqyluad player but in 18 months he hasn't been able to displace a misfiring Nunez or Diaz from the team

Looks like someone is telling the usual press people that it will be difficult to get Gordon this summer. Reckon it happens next year if he refuses to sign a new deal. And we just keep Diaz on his cheap contract and let him go next summer

Klopp was too intent on making him into Firmino MKII/a midfielder.

Gakpo was their top scorer in the Euros and played well. They were pretty big games

He's a good player, you just don't know much about football.

I personally don't care what he does other than at Liverpool but he far from disgraced himself at the last two major championships with 6 or 7 goals combined. I don't think any were penalties as far as I can recall either.

Gakpo’s talented and possibly has an even better choice of manager to get the best out of him this season.

Definitely needs to show his hunger to succeed more in some games though.

That's the issue for me. He's far too passive at times.

You just couldn't wait to stick the boot into Klopp, could you?
