Needs to be drastically modified to become fully automated. Giving total control to bent referees again? No way. It’s the 21st century. We have the technology…we can make it better than it was…..etc etc

Let the refs retire before they lose what little dignity they have left. They can keep their club and reminisce over a cup of pg tips or whatever they drink on a saturday arvo.

I have absolutely no problem with VAR, it’s one of the better things introduced in football the last few years.

The problem in the PL is the absolute morons using it and them trying to make their mates on the pitch look better, when the only focus should be to get things right.

The problem is bigger than VAR its the sheer incompetence of the officiating bordering on corruption its so bad i think the prem league should just get rid of all the refs and start again

I was very much in favour of it coming in originally. Mainly because it was sold as a way to stop absolutely horrendous errors.

In reality all it does is make you think every single goal has a chance of being ruled out for something.

I remember celebrating the Henderson winner at Goodison during covid, only for it to be ruled out because Mane's chest hair was offside.

It's absolutely fucking shit.

VAR and 115 charges FC have made me feel the most despondent I've ever felt about football in my lifetime.

That VAR hasn't fixed bad decision making.

P.S. - I know you're not trying to be shitty mate. And in actual fact we agree on the woefulness of the chimps in charge. I just personally think that even with good refs, using VAR well - we still wont have spontaneous joy when the ball hits the net.

Surely the point is that if good refs are using VAR well, there’ll be less reason for us to hold our celebrations, because if a flag goes up immediately or there’s a whistle for a foul it’ll be because there’s a clear and obvious occurrence that won’t need VAR, and if there’s no flag or whistle the on field decision will be correct?

Problem is where do we get good refs from?

When is the vote?

If enough fans contact clubs telling them to bin it off it might happen.

Good post this and this can't be stated enough, now is the chance for supporters to save our sport from this interloper.

Sing 'Fuck VAR' on Sunday, get banners made, lobby SOS, lobby the club & lobby the PL. If people stick together, they can force change.

I've just emailed the club entitled Scrap VAR.

Saying please can they vote to scrap it as its killing my love for the game to the point I will lose all interest in it soon.

This might be our last chance to stop it.

We saw that fans can still make a difference with the abolition of the Super league.

It’s better in the CL. It’s better in international games.

Its our shite refs that are the problems.

Those Forest v Everton penalties… none were given on pitch. VAR should have corrected at least one of them (the 3rd is the most blatant penalty IMO).

The root cause is bad officials.

So we need to keep it away from them. You don't let kids play with matches because they can't be trusted.

For me it is nothing to do with decisions going our way or any other way, it is the fundamental way we enjoy our sport, it has been altered in an extremely negative way. For all supporters & especially those who go to the games.

The cup games where we didn't have it were an absolute breath of fresh air, regardless of who was winning or what decisions went what way.

Yeah when decisions didn't go our way I was nowhere near as arsed.

I hate it. Removed all spontaneous joy from the game. I’d rather be fucked over by a bad decision occasionally than be subjected to minutes of standing around while they work out if someone’s armpit is one millimetre offside. Hideous invention that wasn’t thought through properly before being Implemented and is poorly used by utter dickheads.

The use of it is bad enough but none of the articles in the papers/Sky or the Athletic even mention that VAR has killed the emotion out of football.

You can't even celebrate a goal, penalty or late winner anymore properly. That's the biggest reason it should be fucked off

You can celebrate goals, absolutely no problem at all.

You can celebrate goals the same way you celebrated goals before, only for it to be flagged for offside, the good thing now though is that you can celebrate it again when the goal stands because VAR overturn the refs decision.

The celebration argument is fuckin bollocks, celebration is just good in the heat of the moment anyway, that’s the same with or without VAR.

Yes we can see this now, turns out you're on your own in thinking this.

That’s one of the biggest arguments for keeping it.

People eventually always comes around to my point of view.

This is something I agree 100% with.

The PL is overloaded with foreign players, managers and other staff, why not refs as well?
