I have absolutely no problem with VAR, it’s one of the better things introduced in football the last few years.

The problem in the PL is the absolute morons using it and them trying to make their mates on the pitch look better, when the only focus should be to get things right.

The refs were shit long before VAR.

That's why we all wanted VAR in the first place, shit refs fucking up big decisions and ruining games, we expected VAR to sort that out.

No point when it's the same gang of pricks in charge of VAR too.

Well done Wolves, no surprise it's come from them either, the number of horrendous VAR calls that have gone against them this season is quite staggering. First day of the season Onana smashing into Kaladszjic, the decision to give Luton a pen when the ball hit his thigh onto his hand, the Kilman last min goal against West Ham that was ludicrously ruled out. One of the pens that went against them at Fulham when Cairney took a dive. Those are the 4 off the top of my head I remember because they were so bad but I know there's been more against them.

How many of those Wolves ones were actually VAR? Genuine question, I’ve not seen them all.

Onana & the penalty v Newcastle were on-field decisions weren’t they?

  1. The impact on goal celebrations
  2. The length of VAR checks and lack of communication in the stadium
  3. A change from its original purpose of correcting clear and obvious errors
  4. Erosion of the on-field referee’s authority due to their reliance on VAR.

Point one is sufficient to jib it forever.

The use of it is bad enough but none of the articles in the papers/Sky or the Athletic even mention that VAR has killed the emotion out of football.

You can't even celebrate a goal, penalty or late winner anymore properly. That's the biggest reason it should be fucked off

All of them.

The onfield ref didn't give the pen against Onana but in those situations you rely on VAR to overturn that, and it had to overturn it. It didn't.

It's a bit like the ref that wrongly gave Mac a red against Bournemouth isn't it? "Oh but when VAR comes in it'll correct all this" was the narrative before the 2018 World Cup,  well it had it's chance to correct a clear and obvious decision and it didn't.

The point I’m making is we take away VAR we’ll still be left with some really, really bad decisions.

Yes. Of course we will, essentially we go back to how it was before the 2018 World Cup only now we have semi automated offsides.

It's pointless having VAR if you're getting so many decisions wrong anyway, this wasn't how it was supposed to be and now we've seen football with and without, there's no doubt in my mind it's better without.

& also without VAR, the bad decisions will be less magnified by the media because you won't have everyone spreading all the shit on twitter, forums, reddit and god knows wherever else.

Football was sound before it, so no problem if it gets binned off.

The idea of having another look at something, in case you have made a fuck up, should be a sound one.

It takes some idiots to fuck that up and unfortunately they remain.

The officials have been really poor this season, the worst I can remember. If they were better, there wouldn’t be as much need for VAR and VAR would be used better.

Without sounding shitty, I’m somewhat struggling to understand what part of my point people are failing to understand.

VAR isn’t the root cause of the bad officiating. Fix the officiating standards first.

This.

It's absolutely ruined football.

That VAR hasn't fixed bad decision making.

P.S. - I know you're not trying to be shitty mate. And in actual fact we agree on the woefulness of the chimps in charge. I just personally think that even with good refs, using VAR well - we still wont have spontaneous joy when the ball hits the net.
