I think we play too slowly for us to win the big prizes this season. We fuck around with the ball so much at the back and I'm not convinced we have the players to do it against the big teams.

Nobody has pressed us really aggressively yet, but you can bet Arsenal, Villa, City, Spurs etc will.

We play so slowly, I don't see how we can create enough pressure on teams if we go a goal down. It takes us about 3 minutes to work the ball into the final 3rd before we try and create something.

His plan against Forrest was just throw everybody on to the pitch. It'll be interesting to see if we can pin teams back when we need a goal and if he's learnt from what happend in the Forrest game.

He's a good coach, very good actually. I like him but it's definitely more pep than Klopp, which isn't a great watch at times.

I get where you're coming from. But we played plenty of shit games under klopp.

Case in point, Leeds at home when they had that American guy in charge. Forest away last season (lucky win) didn't we lose to forest as well at home or possibly draw?

There's plenty of losses to utd as well, and crap utd teams to I might add.

There was a loss to Leicester in the freezing cold that springs to mind as well, and a draw to Everton which would have won us the league.

I'm not entirely disagreeing with you, but people need to erase this image of us being this swashbuckling behemoth under klopp.

Sure we played good football... But it wasn't ever bloody game. That's actually a myth

I love Klopp, but we did have some dire games where we couldn't create a chance.  I'm reserving judgement on Slot until the end of next season.

I think people forget we have some dog shit performances under Klopp and went on a few really rough runs. This idea every game was exciting and dominated just isn't true. I'd say we were either destroying sides or all over the place, big gaps in our best and worst and I think the amount of emotion involved was a big part. I think we'll see something in the middle under Slot where players don't drop off massively when things aren't clicking.

It's just too much milling around.

I think he's been very very fortunate with how the fixtures have lined up. I'm just still not convinced by us I think teams with more quality in their sides could really do us over. It's early days so I'm not saying that's it for Slot, there's a long way to go. I just think we are in a false place and we should maybe reign expectations in before they hit us hard and people over react.

Much of it is probably an eye test thing seeing players who are top level showing quite poor quality with the ball on a consistent basis. We couldn't really ask for better results so far but I don't think we've faced one single team you would expect to beat us.

It’s a really impressive start to win 8 of our first 9 games, I liked that Slot himself said there were tougher games to come.
When he was told he’d been the first Liverpool manager to achieve that he said something along the lines of he didn’t think there were many records he could beat here. I like him, he’s confident but not cocky.

Did you expect to be convinced straight away though?

It was always going to take bit of time to integrate his ideas of how he wants the team to play.
You are right about the kind fixtures so far but surely this is a good thing?

As the season goes on and players have worked more on patterns of play and positioning we should be getting better performances, and that’s when the more difficult games come along.

No I expected an even more rockier start.

He's done great so far what a great start to the season.

but what's with the pissy faces when players are getting subbed off ? Nearly every player last night had a face on them & wouldnt have done it had it been Klopp taking them off.

I was convinced Klopp managed by numbers, him and the sports science team would work out optimum minutes for each player. Joto would know in advance he was only getting 65 minutes etc. With Slot it's different, he's creating an atmosphere were Gakpo and Diaz are direct rivals for that spot. Getting hooked now has a different meaning.

Given how we fell away last season we will need a signing or two in January as he doesnt seem to be one for rotation- some of these players have form for breaking down.

Maybe he doesnt train them as hard as Klopp did

In one of the pieces written before he came he sems to have the intensity Klopp had in his training sessions, but shorter training sessions or missing the odd one depending on the fixture schedule and the sports science team. I read a few times that Klopp would often add 10-20 mins onto a session despite what the sports science people would say.

If he has a decent run in Europe & gets top four this season, he'll be doing absolutely fine in my book.

Anyone expecting him to win the league needs to lay off the glue.

Just watching his presser ahead of Palace. I really like this guy. Of course, the wheels could fall off and he could be gone by Christmas, but there's just a feeling you get from people when they're competent, calm, and have the right mentality. They asked him whether the players might be letting the league position go to their head, and he was immediately like... no, we're Liverpool. You're fucking right.

He doesn't seem phased by much does he? Totally relaxed with anything he's asked and his response surrounding the 12:30 kick offs was particularly interesting.

the trouble with it all really is not how he's dealing with it now, but how he will deal with it when we lose some and how he keeps the group together and the fans onside. that for me was one of the interesting things when we were linked with Alonso, it was at a point in time where he had such limited experience, but had produced such good results, how he dealt with a loss, let alone a bad spell, had never been tested. Some of the stuff slot says is in complete contrast to what we would have got from klopp and that i itself is refreshing, if only because we almost knew how what klopp would say to any answer. klopp also said a lot less about what was happening behind the scenes. Slot seems very open and frank about all that kind of thing. It might not be so easy if we win 1 in 4 and two of them were 12.30 KOs after internationals and CL games.

Should be 9 out of 9. The players let him down massively against Forest.

His tactics and that substitutions in that game were shite too so it was only part on the players.

Happy with everything so far but not onboard for praising Slot for wins and excusing him for defeats especially one where he set us up too narrow from the start and then panicked and made a weird tactical change with 20 minutes to go.
