It's unusual for a manager to come in when the previous one is still highly regarded as changes usually come when the previous manager has been sacked so the new one enjoys a boost purely because they're not them. For Slot that's reversed. That's gonna be tough on the guy.

It's unusual at a club like ours, but there are plenty of clubs who are doing well have their manager stolen - see feynoord. Steve cooper is walking into a happy club at Leicester. Fabian Hürzeler at Brighton the same. Lopetegui isn't going into a disaster zone at WHU, with Moyes being WHUs best manager of the premier league era. And out of the other clubs who've changed manager this summer, it comes back to a club who expects to be at the top in Chelsea who's manager is going into a club where things have been regularly going to shit.

Still think that's a bit different though, if Klopp had fucked us off for another club, even if it was amicable there'd still be an element of "Well fuck you too" about it.

It's unusual for an idolised, successful manager in his prime to just 'stop'.

Well perhaps looking at the end of last season, it might be argued he was not in his prime - in fact that would be the reason he chose to leave. But putting that aside, sure some fans might be a bit bitter if their man leaves for another club, but plenty would be the exact opposite. As an example, I've got some mates who are Brighton fans and when we played them when de zebri first took over (I think it was his first or 2nd game), we had a few beers in the cabbage before the match. Their love and respect for potter was clear - and they acknowledged de zebri had a mountain to climb to win over the fan base and that was despite the utmost trust they have in the people running the club.

It doesn't make the task of the person following in any easier when the bar was set high by the predecessor - but that is equally because of last season's points tally that can be measured. But I think when fans move on, they'll get behind the new guy. For me the main reason that's going to be hard here, is not because of how good klopp was, but the people who are deciding the clubs TV and online content seem incapable of letting go. Barely a day goes by without another klopp story.
