Take a data book seriously. How silly of me.

Edit... And the idea of being funny, you shouldn't need telling it is. But it was clearly so unfunny, he had to actually put it in the book.

Didn't see your edit, he didn't put it in the book, it was an unprompted clarification in an interview he did when the interviewer mentioned the book coming out.

not sure why it's riled you so much when it means nothing, it's ironic, flippant, it's not meant to be outright funny, it's just a title of a book.

It riles me because it comes across exactly as he knows it comes across, he sounds a twat, hence the clarification

That's embarrassing, his first attempt at signing a player and it's a public failure. Shite like this should be kept private, first sign of rumour it should be Pearced. Get Jorge on the phone and have him ring any of the dozen No 6s in the PL that are better than ours, I bet you he had pinkies number from the Euros, just get him.

Wow, what a change of tune.

I think Edwards and Hughes really need either to clarify between them what their responsibilities are, or, if they've already done that, clarify the matter for outsiders, because even now people are switching between them in a completely subjective manner - we get a decent clause in a contract, it must be Edwards; we don't get a signing completed, it must be Hughes; etc etc. Edwards probably enjoys the way he only seems to get associated with stuff when it shows him in a good light, but Hughes ought to be wary about that media (and fan) trend.

When Edwards returned I did say I hoped he wouldn't try to stay as aloof and silent as he was the last time around - with more responsibility ought to come more readiness to engage with the public. Now Hughes seems to be content with embracing that model of muteness, but it's really not that wise a strategy. Edwards was helped when he was DoF by Klopp being such a great PR man. He explained and defended and protected Edwards whilst the man himself hid from the cameras and indulged in the myth-making. Slot can't, and shouldn't, be expected to do that for Hughes. But fans need to be given at least a tiny bit of reassurance as to what the hell is going on, and it's not coming from either of these pretty smug-seeming suits.

When you've got even the Echo 'Blood Red' hacks openly questioning the decisions and talking about asset-stripping, you've really provoked even the normally submissive part of the following.
