I don't reckon it's that simple that kelleher is staying. All the noise around him is he wants out.

That's be a big problem.

We need at least 2 top keepers, maybe even a third.

Kelleher is excellent in terms of playing out.

Jaros deserves a chance to stake a claim in pre-season (depending on the clubs view of him)  but if Kelleher goes I would guess they'll look to buy a replacement.

(Although I wouldn't be surprised if Jaros was looking for first team football after winning a title and earning his first cap for the national team).

Yeah, pretty much my view too. Wouldn't argue with Davies getting a chance. Looked decent enough in pre season last year.

Jaros, Pitaluga, Davies, Mzorek and Ojrzyński.

All already there at our academy :)

You'd assume at least one of those becomes 3a to Adrians 3b, for the first half of the season at least.

Pitaluga and Davies both went from starters, to the bench, whilst on loan. I think they both need loans again this season.

Jaros could be a good 3rd choice, though as has been noted, he may not fancy that after winning an Austrian title and going the Euros.

Davies was brought in as competition for 19 year old Tom Booth. I think he's seen as a real talent that they probably hope will become a significant saleable asset for them or a star of the side. Basically, Davies was never playing the full season, but he's done well enough from what I've seen, had a good taste of senior football in a senior league and should be able to press on here.

Issue is whether Achterberg leaving means we get worse at bringing these kids on while here. Our record of improving young keepers in recent years has been excellent.

Not saying he's a Kelleher level talent, but should be in the mix.

Aren't we allegedly interested in Sunderlands keeper?

I reckon the only way we spend more than pittance on a keeper, is if Keheller leaves.

Yeah I heard that too.

I still reckon there is a real chance Ali is out for a few months next season - I'm basing that off him being injured regularly or maybe it just feels like that. Even a few weeks out can derail a season. Maybe that Sunderland kid could be boss, as could Jaros or our lads in the academy, but I'd rather Kelleher here and give him the carrot of replacing Ali full time in 12 months. We don't know how high Kelleher's ceiling is, but we know he's very good and he has the mentality to come in to a title chasing team at one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Mentality is important in any position, but goalkeepers are more open to scrutiny than others imo. There was one game (Fulham at home,?) he was dogshit, but he was my man of the match in the next game and generally very good for the rest of the year. Ali and Ederson, and Martinez have that ability to bounce back after a fuck up or two. It's a good sign in a keeper.

It’s all very quiet at the moment. We’d already signed Mac Allister this time last year.

Realise the Euro’s & Copa America doesn’t help, I don’t think it’s going to start to heat up until the end of the month and this PSR stuff kicks in.

He's in Jorg's spare bedroom in Ibiza and hasnt even used half of his glowsticks yet, so it could be a while.

If he says he's happy to stay I'm more than happy for the club to keep him. You need players like him even if it doesn't always work out for him in front of goal. Klopp clearly valued his importance given how many minutes he played, probably won't see that much playing time next season....which could actually be do him some good.

Never thought Barca were serious on him and financially they've been in a very precarious dilemma for some time now.

He's always felt one of those, he's not desperate to go, but if a chance to go to Spain or Barca in particular came up, he'd be there in a flash. But that just doesn't seem economically viable - there's no chance for Barca and you can't imagine anyone else being able to match our expectations in Spain who'd actually want him. I think if he ends up at psg, it's probably because we've pushed him out the door.

No one wants to sign him so now he is groveling for a new deal.

It's always been about a new deal. His dad's been talking up the move everytime someone spoke to Diaz he'd said he's happy. And in footballing terms he is underpaid at 55k a week. Adrian amd Tsmiskas earn more. Gakpo came in on more than double.

55k per week? That can't be right. The only places I've seen numbers like that are when they say our overall wage bill is something like £150m and clearly that's not true. Even if he's on a basic of 55, you can be sure he's pulling in 2 or 3 times that.
