Yeah because Jurgen brought so many top German players.

There was nothing to stop him trying, was there?

He chose not to, Slot may do.  Its always common for managers to dip back into previous teams or leagues for players.

Well he apparently wanted Brandt but we got Salah, we got the legend that is Karius though. And from a German club Keita. Do managers really bring that many from former clubs ETH aside these days? Leagues are a different matter and nationality too.

Who were the other 2 young midfielders (think they were French) we linked ourselves too last summer but as per had no interest in them. Did they ever come good?

I wouldn't be putting any faith in Bajcetic at all. When has a young player ever come back from a year out like that? It's a rhetorical question before anyone starts.

I would be amazed if he ever holds down a regular first team place with Liverpool now.

We had interest in Thuram, we went with Szoboszlai/Gravenberch instead, the other was Manu Kone. Not watched either this year though.

I remember being at the match. Think it was a midweek game against Stoke at Anfield. Came on as a sub in the second half and scored.

It was a scuffed finish that struggled to cross the line.

I’ll always remember it as it was the only time I took Carly to watch a Liverpool game.

A couple of not particularly reputable sources saying we’re looking at Colwill again.

Personally, I’d prefer Branthwaite, realise the challenges dealing with The Ev would bring. If I was him, given the level of toxicity he’d receive from them, not convinced I’d want to move to us.

I’d rather sell Diaz than Gomez. Gomez has stepped up this season. He’s been one of our better players.

Diaz as much as I like him flatters to deceive. He had a nice spell when he returned after his dad got kidnapped but didn’t keep it up. I’d like to keep him but if there’s a good offer then take it. Can’t be doing with his dad winking at Spanish clubs all season. Nunez in from the left and an Isak or Salah through the middle would be decent. Gonna get pelters here but Bowen on the right would be fucking boss here

Don’t think any potential sale of Diaz & Gomez would be linked.

I think we’re all roughly in agreement on Diaz - really good player, we all like him, always 110% effort, numbers aren’t good enough, replaceable.

Bowen will be too expensive now for his age. We missed the boat when we allegedly wanted him for £35m in the summer of 2021 and majority of the forum thought he was shite!

It does sound like a wide player / forward and centre back are our priorities this summer. With Slot coming in, potential exits, summer tournaments etc it all feels it could potentially become as in the air as last summer did.

Florian Wirtz was out for about a year and is Leverkusen's star man, however, that is the exception to be fair.

I don't think pace and power was ever going to be Bajcetics game, so hopefully he has a chance at least.

IMO, we head into this summer like Arsenal last season. Good but not quite good enough, a soft underbelly. They made a statement signing in Rice and given them that steel they needed.

We need tweaks, not sweeping changes.

We need a peak Fabinho level dm. Good enough ain’t gonna cut it. Bruno Guimares is too pricey at his age for us but that’s what we need. There’s tons of very good defensive midfielders but not too many spring to mind who are good passers and distributors. I can live with a younger forward who ticks the right stat boxes, especially if Salah is staying but what we do upfront depends on who if any of them get sold. Guimares and Isak at £200m solves our problems. So we basically need to go out and spend half that on whoever the next ones of them are. I’ll take Paquetta too as a bonus if his gambling shite is behind him. It’s a shame Villa are good and minted, Douglas Luiz, Ollie Watkins, Moussa Diaby, and Kamara are all good players who would otherwise be considered.

I think Villa are one of the clubs at risk of PSR sanctions and likely need to sell somebody before 30th June.

Given Luiz & Kamara were signed for low fees, they’d likely make big profits on them.

IMO, Watkins isn’t quite good enough.

I’m pretty sure the cheats will be in for Paquetta again.

Why not just sign Mbappe, Rodri, Bellingham and Odegaard while we're at it?

It's either those 4 or the 3 I mentioned Joe, sometimes you can't have it both ways.

Also, do you really rate Odegaard that highly?

Watkins has been one of the best players in the league this season.

It's moot though anyway as he turns 29 in December so won't be on our radar.

I view him in a similar way Kevin Phillips or Jamie Vardy winning the golden boot.

Good players, score goals, not elite level.
