Given how many youngsters we let leave over the summer, if we'd wanted to sell Morton, I'm sure we would have done.

We obviously have a value on a player, which we likely do on every player, and if that amount is met, we'll sell.

Because nobody met the value for Morton doesn't mean we wanted to sell him.

You have no idea what Slot thinks of him. Given he chose to let Clark & Bajectic go ahead of him, implies he must have some semblance of faith in his ability. Seemingly Alonso & Lijnders like him as well.

Again, I'm not saying Morton will be the next Mascherano, nor am I saying he'll be the next Poulsen. He's now going to get an opportunity, it's up to him to show if he's up to it.

If you count the players who can play in midfield, we have more than 7 option...

BAU Midfield - Mac Allister, Szobozslai, Gravenberch, Jones, Elliott, Endo, Morton.

Flexible midfielder - Trent, Gakpo.

Youth - McConnell, Nyoni.

So to me, 9 to 11 players. We certainly have the numbers in that position. I fully agree a 6 specialist should have been signed, however, we certainly already do have the numbers in there.

Yawn. All you do is find a way to defend the indefensible. Some people will just swallow anything.

Believe me, it’s nowhere near as tiresome as you passing off your opinion as fact and your minions continually lapping it up.

I’ve not defended anybody or anything above, I’ve pointed a hole in your argument.

You also know I’ve continually said I think we should have signed a top level defensive midfielder this summer. The difference being I’ve attempted to understand the reasoning behind why we haven’t, you just shout and shout until your opinion is accepted as the truth.

We don't play with an Edson Alvarez we play with, and wanted, a 6 who would receive the ball in tight spaces, evade the press and move the ball for the #8 and #10.

That's what Gravenberch did at Ajax.

The 6 in Slots formation is completely different to Klopps 6. We are still short there as we need to be able to limit Gravenberch and Mac Allister minutes from time to time. Mac Allister was out on his feet in the last few mo ths of the season and he played the copa last summer. He obviously doesn't fancy Endo and Jones unfortunately looks like he will never be able to put a run of games together. I think Slot is perfectly happy with Mac Allister as one of the 2 though.

You’re about as popular as Barry Horowitz

I think I over estimated with Stone Cold.

Was there a joke WCW version of Stone Cold? like WWF’s joke version of Goldberg in Gillberg…

Exactly. We were going to have Gravenberch on the bench for Zubimendi, had we gotten our way and it's because realistically speaking, Gravenberch has proven nothing in that position at the highest level. Playing in a double pivot next to a destroyer in the Eredivisie, where you can also waltz around, is not experience of any kind. He has made a good start, we'll see how it lasts.

There's nothing inherently wrong with the profile of the midfield, though. PSG's looks similar to Grav-Macca-Szobo, with Neves, Vitinha and Zaire-Emery and that will be one of the best midfields in Europe.

The midfield were brilliant today. Shame Szobo decided today was the day when he wouldn’t take a shot as the kid could have had a hat trick if he’d have pulled the trigger earlier.

Only thing worrying is that if one or 2 get injured, the drop offs massive to what’ll replace the lads currently sat on the bench.

Hopefully we go back and try and bring Zubimendi in the beginning of January as I reckon one more top quality player is required there.

Re the 3 out of contract. We’ll let them see what they can get elsewhere when the January window opens and see if it’s worth competing with. I hope we keep them. The Souness cull has haunted me for over 30 years.

Fucking Dick Emery would walk into that United side.
